When you get quoted endlessly for a sensitive post you've made

Doesn't it give you a quick good feeling when you are quoted for something awesome you said?

But I bet it also makes you cringe when you're sure you made a post that is either flamebait or quite sensitive and will provoke reaction. That happened to me lately:

Why the fuck is Half-Life 2 praised so fucking much when those vehicle sections are beyond broken!? Seriously I couldn't bother to keep playing that shit.

The problem I see hear is not that he doesn't know what he is talking about.

Rather, the problem here is that people will simply read this and bash Bungie and the Halo games for "being mediocre" instead of Kotick's stupidity.

Not important but still...

Just because they produced one of the best-selling series doesn't mean everyone less successful is not high quality.

P.S. I better not get quoted several times again.
Honestly most of the times I got quoted the person didn't respond negatively, but still it got quite annoying. I mean hur hur, anyone can bash Halo, CoD, Gears of War, etc. But when someone bashes Half-Life 2, Portal, etc. the person will get quoted eventually because those games can't be criticized on this site without reaction.

Oh, I'm sorry now I am provoking flamebait.

Well anyways, how do you feel when you make posts like these and you're endlessly quoted on it? Does it anoy the shit out of you? Maybe it just entertains you? Share.

What is it with people and HL2's vehicle sections? They're too long but they control just fine.

And I accept the fact that I've made a comment that doesn't agree with the majority so people are going to try and discuss it with me - that's the point of posting in the first place.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I liked the vehicular sections, they werent the best to control but they did give you the sense of going somewhere and anyone who has driven a car knows that it takes forever and is best if its not exciting

That happened to me a few times though the quotes come hours later in waves.(usually I'm not on then) By the next day I get like 10-15 messages about the same topic. I usually just ignore them and delete them.

A little insensitive, but I wish not bring the argument back up.

Yeah, it's happened to me once or twice. Usually as 'rebuttals' they serve as good lols, so I enjoy receiving them.

I got quoted maybe 15 times after I said that 1337% of pi is not 42, but a little over it. It was a bit ridiculous.

Sometimes it's annoying to get quoted only on one post just because you mentioned a single game when you've been posting other things that you consider more important.

It's also strange how the only opinion you're allowed to have is a positive one about
Bioshock
Half-Life
Shadow of the Colossus (I'm a fan, but even I wonder why people aren't allowed to dislike it sometimes. I mean sure, I disliked it at first, but that was due to several circumstances and going into it with the wrong perspective. Not everyone is the same and will like it after a second look)
Fallout
Starcraft
Batman (this is justified if only because he's the Goddamn Batman)

While anything not negative about these will get you flamed
Final Fantasy
Halo
Gears of War
Modern Warfare
Bobby Kotick (JUSTIFIED)
EA
JRPGs in general

And these can go either way
Anything related to Bioware
Any new game just released (Though this is justified when you make a thread with the title of "Am I the Only One Who ________ ?")
Nintendo
Sony/Microsoft

There's nothing wrong if you didn't like the game. It's just that HL2 was so universally held in high regard people will think you're trolling. Personally I liked the vehicle sections, especially Highway 17 which was my favorite level of the entire game. It's a nice drive along the coast on a beautiful day, and you get to take a few scenic breaks to waste Combine assholes. The swamp boat did wear on me a bit, however.

But you know what? It's all subjective!. If you didn't like it then you didn't like it. I'm a big proponent of considering games as an art-form, and I definitely think they deserve that status by now. And do you know what art is? Subjective. Personally, I did like HL2 better than Halo and certainly better than CoD: MW (although I didn't play that one much). I just like the story, atmosphere and great NPC interaction more. But guess what? That's my opinion.

So praise/bash whatever game you like, it's just a matter of taste.

Of course if you hated Portal, that's another matter.

It happened to me once. It sucked, but I realized that quite a few of those users had their heads up their asses, because their pathetic 'arguments' made no sense outside the realm of their arrogance.
Same with me. Some people that quote me are arrogant asshats while others we go back and forth for a bit in a debate then a third person usually jumps in and it ends there.

I am always disappointed when I make a well thought out post that doesn't get quoted but when I post a quick down and dirty response I get a half dozen people who get all steamed about it.

There was a thread awhile back asking why some African American people preferred to be called African American instead of "black"

I got a lot of negative response when I explained why.

When it comes to half life 2, I played through it then sold my Orange Box back to gamestop before I had finished episode 1.

Portal was fun though (for 2 playthroughs) and I never got into TF2 (just don't care for it)

My views on piracy are quite controversial.
As were my views on the possibility of a male contraceptive pill.

This led to me going to sleep one evening, waking up the next day with at least seven messages in my inbox, all from the same thread...

It's not that I get up in arms when people poke fun at Half-Life or Portal, but I really just don't understand how people can play them and not like them. I mean Portal isn't everyone's game because some people don't like puzzle games, but Half-Life is basically a space-marine shooter at its very best. Also I don't understand the hate on Gears of War or Halo.

As much as I don't like it when games are generic, Halo is pretty much responsible for FPS's as they are now so they get a free pass in my book. Gears pretty much gave us the standard formula for a well put together cover system, and has a pretty cool story in my opinion, so it also gets a pass.

You have no idea how badly I want every single comment to quote you. I hate you that much. :D

And I'm going to go out on a limb and guess the Half-Life comment was quoted due to excessive swearing and a confusing reason.
