Self righteous douche-bags who want to save the world while running themselves into debt. And they also seem to think that anyone they talk to on the phone will instantly know they're from California just by mentioning the name of their city. I don't think of surfers, I think of people who think they're the ass-kings of the US. I also get annoyed when they complain about how cold it is. Try -20 F. It seems they've reached a point where they're so forward thinking, their heads have wrapped around their sense of self worth and have planted neatly in their asses. And when you have areas in your most populous cities where even the hard-core RAMPART SWAT members won't go due to firebombings, you might have bigger problems then getting everyone into hybrids. I've been to California, it was either smog smothered ghettos and freeways, or upscale neighborhoods where everyone had 'gone green'. Not a big fan.

I do realize there's a middle area where people actually do work, farm, live normal lives, it seems like's it's the coast line over the Sierra Madre that's the problem.
I have to agree with you on that I went to san fansico and coming down form the mountains it seemed like a differnt country. Oh and yes everthing is flithy here does not matter were you are from in cally its dirty and once you leave the state everthing is so much cleaner.

How surprised I was that Prop. 8 thing didn't pass in such a stereotypically Ultra Lib state. Last time I trust parody for political opinions lol XD

There is a TV advert running in the UK for California. Its basically trying to tell all us brits that all you do out there is Surf, drink wine and sunbathe. Including Arnie. So yea, blame your ad campain :p

I've been there a few times and I think its hot. Way to hot to live in, but cool enough to visit. I live in BC, a day's drive north of California with a Californian.

Well, if those tourism adverts are to be believed, California is a place of unparalleled beauty featuring a large number of extremely good looking and happy people who lounge around all day drinking wine, receiving massages, or driving around in awesome cars while being Jay Leno. I somehow think there's more to it than this.....

Well you probably face the same prejudice as the aussies. It could be worse though, you could live in Florida and have everyone assume you're a hick or a serial killer ala Dexter.

Mostly all the things I've seen there when I've visited. In order
1) the Golden Gate Bridge big stretches of freezing water.
2) The San Jose Sharks
3) People stereotyping (VERY) Negatively and rudely against me because of my rural background. despite -
4) - All the ranches in that state
5) the TV show 'Arrested Development'
