Arn't "Rock and Roll" and "Rock" 2 different styles of music, similar to how R&B (Rythem and Blues) is different to RnB (Rythem and Bass)? When I hear the words Rock and Roll, I think Beatles and Chuck Berry.

That song which goes "I love Rock N' Roll!" which then automatically translates in my mind to Weird Al Yankovics "I love rocky road!" There's a lot to be said for his parodies.

The first rock song I ever heard was "Shout at the Devil" by Motley Crue, so I gotta go with them.

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Pro'lly cuz they had a song called "I live Rock n Roll" that played on the radio all the time in the 80s & 90s.

All the rock'n'roll music I listened to back in the 80s that I don't ever remamber having a "genre" title too, was lumped together with Synthpop & is now seemingly just refurred to as "80s."

In the 90s, I liked everything, dance, hip-hop, metal, rock, ballad....The only rock band I can remember by name is Green Day.

In 1998, I swore off English-language music do to the sucksplosion & to this day cannot name any American bands....or actors.

Rock'n'Roll I think of old 50's musicians like Chuck Berry and Elvis.

To me Rock'n'Roll and Rock are different genres.
They really are. Rock standalone usually refers to Hard Rock, which would range from Hendrix to AC/DC. It's just like metal and heavy metal. Similar, not the same.

The Who comes to mind. Even though I'm a metal fan I enjoy pinball wizard and other stff by them from time to time.
