So basically I've been on a bit of an SNK kick since I got the KOF Bundle on Steam (Includes KOF 98: Final Edition, KOF 2002: Umlimited Match and KOF 13: Steam Edition) and I kinda heard about this game that was said to be one of the best SNK ever made and basically being it's version of Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike.
I've seen some gameplay and I decided I want to get it, but I don't want to be scummy and get a ROM, mostly because I kinda suck at using those, They don't really work with my PS3 controller-To-Laptop set up and because I want to give SNK Playmore my money.

When I looked, the best I could find was an IOS port to smartphones which I'm not counting as I want to get the actual thing on my laptop.
So anyone know a good place to purchase it or will I have to get a ROM?

Garou: MOTW was one of my absolute favorite fighting games, definitely one of SNK's finest and very underrated.

Last time I remember seeing it for sale on the Xbox Live Marketplace on 360. Dreamcast copies on Amazon are way too expensive from what I can see. As for getting a digital copy, I really have no idea there.

I don't think there's a way to play on PC without some sort of emulator even if you somehow manages to get a physical copy of the game be the Dreamcast version or the PS2 version.

OT: Alright, thanks anyway, just on the off chance that there is a digital copy someplace.

If you're really desperate, then there's always the iOS and Android versions.

Yeah I have never played Garou or The Last Blade 1 and 2 mainly because although I respected SNK I was never big on their fighters much back in the day but now I have come to enjoy pretty much most fighters out there in one way or another I am sad I missed these supposed gems.

If only my 360 did not pack up I could have got it there on the store but I dont know where you can (legally) get it digitally on PC or anywhere except 360. Also keep meaning to get Akatsuki Blitzkampf but again dunno where you can get it.

Im hopin SNK do a bundle of all their old fighters for digital platforms or at least release em in some form on PC. At least we got some more KOF games recently.

You can get the demo here:

And you can buy it here:

No idea what to do in regards to currency and such though. I would love a localized digital release of this game.

Also, Akatsuki from this game is featured in Under Night In-Birth Exe, which I found very cool and if I'm not mistaken that game is localized for the US. Will very likely be the next game I import, along with Aquapazza.

I really wish that digital sales could be more internationalized - So that you could actually access stores from other regions and pay for things your own currency, converted to the equivalent value in the local one.

Hell, I'd be fine with them waiving any guarantees of functionality or support for cross-region purchases, as long as I'm able to actually buy thiongs. Most things work just fine and the few things that don't are usually fixed by dedicated fans with programming knowledge or just changing some system settings.

But I suppose that if they remove the region restrictions and make it easier to pay in foreign currencies, larger companies (And local distributors) wouldn't be able to price gouge foreign markets when you finally decide to localize.

Thanks ill have a look about buying it. Probably wont be for a while but I will definitely get it at some point now I know I can. UNIEL is great btw hands down one of the best new fighting IPS I have seen in a long time up there with Skullgirls although in some respects I would say its even better. UNIEL is localised now but I got the Japanese version.

Aquapazza is good as well but not really on the same level. I would recommend Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax over Aquapazza unless there is a character you really want to play as in it ofc. Then again you could do what I did and get both :)

I'll probably wait a bit longer before getting Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax. It's still fairly pricey and since it's only in Japanese, I don't feel like putting down too much money for it. Aquapazza and Under Night In-Birth are both cheaper than than DBFC and localized to the US (I'm in Europe, but PS3 is region free), so I can understand what's going on in those games.

What I really want in Guilty Gear Xrd, which Atlus is taking forever to release here in Europe. But then again, with all the DLC I might as well wait for the complete version - Same as I've done with the Blazblue games.

I've been meaning to import a fighting game or two for a long time now but never gotten around to it. I've always ended up buying completely different games instead. I actually got some games today - Ragnarok Odyssey Ace (US version. EU never got a physical release and I prefer physical copies) and EDF 2 V2 (JP version) for Vita. I love region free consoles.

I know what its like im in Europe as well :) Arc hate us for some reason. Guilty Gear Xrd is great btw but yeah if you plan on buying both the DLC characters its pricey as hell. I wouldnt hold your breath on a EU release I just import pretty much all fighters nowadays pretty much given up supporting the localisations especially for Arcs case. I usually get the American versions if possible because its cheaper to import than buy it here usually plus any DLC is way cheaper as well.

GGXRD was half price on the PSN in America on valentines day maybe they will do another deal soon. I had already bought a hard copy so did not get the digital. Just waitin for MKX to come (finally found it cheap as I was not paying 40 quid for a game with that many missing characters/ extra content) and have Gundam Extreme Vs coming soon as well from Japan which I have never played but looks different enough and quite fun hopefully.

There was talk of Dengeki being localised even in EU but I wouldnt hold your breath.

Derp. I meant to write Arc System Works there. :D

I think I got it confused in my head with Persona Arena Ultimax, which is another fighting game of theirs that I'm waiting to have localized. Last I checked, Atlus had a EU division? Though they are part of SEGA now aren't they? I'm not sure if that decreases or increases the odds of a localization what with SEGA hating money and all.

But yeah, I don't mind waiting for a localization - I would just like to know if there will actually be one. I'd love a localization of God Eater 2 Rage Burst as well. Namco have trademarked the name in Europe, but no localization announced yet.

I know I can import and probably should, but I'll have to prioritize the games I can get the most out of and wait for games I could just as well pick up later (When localized, preferably).

A bit of a side track on the original subject, but eh, it's a fun topic to discuss.

The NEO-GEO X is your best bet if you want to do it legit. It's a modern emulation handheld made by SNK's copyright holder and can connect to your home power and television.

Apart from that, NEo-Geo arcade cabs can be surprisingly cheap, especially if you're willing to buy a generic cabinet and the game separately.

I will also say that while I LOVE all things SNK/ADK, and Garou IS a fantastic game... Third Strike is technically better in almost every respect. More involved, fluid combos, the art and animation... The main reason to compare them is that both feature a mechanic where if you block at the very last minute you block "better." Both are also almost pornographically beautiful, although SFIII just explodes with color and smoothness in a way nothing on the Neo Geo could (SFIII runs on the CPS3, so the technical counterpart to Garou would be a CPS2 fighter like Alpha).
