Where did all the older Escapist users go?

We all left when the younger people showed up. The forums were a wildly different place 3 years ago. Mods were harsher and people feared the rules.Sup I said:

I came here from StumbleUpon back in 2008 and only joined up the forums in 2009.
The Extra Credits thing was pretty huge so I wouldn't be surprised if there was an exodus of sorts. I've still spotted older posters on the forums though so there are many around. I spend most of my time here watching videos though, ZP, unskippable, jimquisition and the Bob videos. I've been here since 2008 or 2009 but didn't join the forums until...2009? Wow, time does fly!
All banned I think. There was one I remember, Can't remember name or avatar, but he was funny as hell and he got banned

Many reasons.
Boredom with the site.
Getting banned.
Not liking all the changes.
Just stick to user-groups.
Don't post much since the influx of so many new people leads to less interesting threads.
And plenty of other reasons.
But I'm still here. I'll probably always be here. Like herpes.

Am I old? I dunno. I Don't post terribly often. I like to think what I say has more weight.
Interests change with time. I tend to stay out of forums, as for whatever reason they stir up a great deal of rage in their discussion factories. And yet, here I am.

Personally, I'd say that with each passing year... the escapist loses old content and gains new content, and with it usually some people will leave, but rest assured new people also come with the new content. Personally, I miss a lot of the older shows, but I'm loving shows like No Right Answers and the Jimquisition. I miss Anthony Saves the World and ENN and the Daily Drop... but I have a lot of faith in the Escapist, so I'll keep coming back each week to see what new nuggets of joy they have for me each week.

Ditto about ZP. All Goons were asked to check out ZP as Yahtzee was a SA member so I did. Everything else has been fun to check out- I love Extra Credits, but probably would have encountered it anyway as PATV took it on, as well as stuff with the LRR crew, who are pretty funny.
I have to say that MovieBob, Seamus Young and the Critical Miss team also produce great stuff, which has kept me coming back.
There's just not much to talk about that I feel requires my input. Plus it seems every other topic is just a flame war waiting to happen, and it's not very pleasant to engage in one of those.

As for the video content I'm down to just Yahtzee and Bob, but I never saw the point in posting in the weekly threads for their stuff anyway. Frankly I still hang around because this is the only forum community I can stand. Though they've been eroded over the years, posters here still seem to hold themselves to a high standard. I like that, it's a pleasant change from the free for all of incoherent shouting I find elsewhere. I also like that the rules here are actually enforced with regularity and consistency. For lack of a better phrase it does help keep the rabble out.
My only complaint is that because they have to protect their business interests it's resulted in there being rules against and lack of a proper space provided for users to show off and share their creative content. It's caused more than one sad "Hey guys look what Imade just happened to find!" thread where a user is trying to get their work seen and has to lie. The uglier side of our users tends to show when those crop up.
