I come here sometimes to see what ZP has to offer.

It feels like the articles are outdated, the reviews come in later than other places,
the news is aggregated from other places, the updates in articles usually arent attributed.

I consume media a strange rate so this site kinda seems....slow.

We got eaten. Sorry.
After being here for three years, that Tiger in Mariena's profile has eaten most of us 3rd years. I, however, am still alive.

For now.

EDIT: You know you're old school when:

- You remember Doomsday Arcade being the shizz everyone talked about.

- You had to earn 5,000 post (Neo) badge when there was no way to lower your infractions and had to actually post, user groups did not even exist then. So anyone who had the Neo badge was considered an Escapist Among Men.

- Khell's epic rants that always got him in trouble.

- You couldn't even see your "health" meter. It was "Is there any message from an angry moderator yet?" daily checks after a big flame war happened to know for sure if you screwed up.

- The Religion and Politics board was the feared region of the forums that few dared to enter, least they encountered moderator wrath from the rage they'd give upon seeing the opinions other than theirs! (If I'm not mistaken, there wasn't even a R&P board three years ago, but time has been so far off I don't remember)

- Being here for both the birth, and death, of entire series (Extra Credits, Doomsday Arcade, Apocolypse Lane, etc)

- That one very offensive / annoying show that no one really liked, except for the staff. You know it. It was hilarious in the comments sections after every episode. (I don't think they even archived it, I believe it quit after three episodes or so)

- The Daily Drop being that new, awesome show. Look, something's in slow-mo! Ohhhh... baby! (This was very entertaining at first, regardless if it broke or not. And the first time we saw the Crowbar... Epicness was born)

- Everyone. Wanted. Badges.

I believe it simply has to do with the correlation between the age and popularity of the site. As it grows older, you'll see a larger percentage of new people posting. Users generally increase at a higher rate every year, and thus you see a drop in old timer posts compared to the new blood. That being said, I came for ZP, but it took me about a year before I cared to join the forms and make a post.

Edit : my 666th post. Oh no, the Mark of the Beast!

I'm still around, I'm getting harder and harder to kill these days. You kids aren't used to appropriate difficulty levels in games. Also I believe Skyrim needs to be classified as an addictive substance.

I came to the Escapist largely for There Will Be Brawl. Around about the time it ended was the time when I stopped posting as frequently. I don't want to sound like one of those pretentious, deluded people that goes on about how everything was better in the past, but the quality of posting here at the Escapist really dropped right around the time Zero Punctuation's popularity boomed.
I stopped posting as frequently about that time.
Now I just post when I feel its needed.
People move on , I guess people are doing it here

Though the known ones may be gone we old members are still around. Joined back in '08 for ZP. Lurked for about a year before discovering the Forum Games and RP thread. Most older 'Pists tend to stay there or in user groups.

Things change. Some of those users might have moved on to other interests. Some got banned (chance is higher you'll do something wrong the longer you're here and the more you post). I'm certain some left as the way the Escapist was run changed and they just didn't like that change. And some probably just don't post as much where you see them. I'm sure there are some old timers hiding in groups or forum games. I'm not saying that I've been here that long (only about a year and a half) but I know that I've posted less in the forums for a while and more in individual groups.

I originally joined/found the site because of Zero Punctuation but have never become a frequent poster, as evidenced by the fact that there are people who joined a month ago with a higher post count than I have in my 3+ years.

I just realized I've been on this site since 2008 and I haven't even Gone Gonzo.

I lurk too much :\
I hated it when I "went gonzo". I don't like that title and was sad that it is the one you have the longest.
Should just join the pub club than... than you can have any title that you want...<.<

I don't bother posting much anymore, especially currently since I'm not gonna be playing Skyrim for a good while, if at all. We don't get interesting non-generic threads much anymore, and I usually miss out when they pop up because I'm on Assassin's Creed or something.

I probably drifted in because I heard of Zero Punctuation, but I kept coming back for the weekly articles (all of them). I don't read them much anymore though. I'm sure they're still good and all, but eventually stopped since they're not in your face on the front page anymore and I stopped taking the time out of my day to read them. Extra Credits was really good too when it came by.

Spent a little while seeing if anyone on this forum knew about Touhou. Not many did, so I put up a Touhou fan group. It was really lively for a good while, but eventually went kinda quiet (partially my fault for not posting as much later on)

Nowadays, I just lurk the forums hoping something good comes by and try to keep loosely up to date with gaming news/current events.

Wait, when did you get a sword? 0_0

I know NewClassic occasionally drops by to leave a wall-o-text here and there.
I guess most of use are still here, we just like to lurk more than post these days.
The Bansword has always been my signature weapon. I find it more elegant and, aha, to the point than a hammer. The Banmop helps clean up afterwards. See? [http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s46/Labyrinth_11/banmopninja2.png]

I dunno, the forum topics are getting a lot less thought provoking, so I've moved onto other areas.

I'm still around, I just don't post as much as I used to, since I finished uni, moved back with my parents, and so can't use the Internet as much as I used to. Not sure with everyone else, though, to be honest... :p

A lot of them were disgusted on how The Escapist had treated Extra Credits and left, I know a fair few people did atleast.
