Where did you meet your current significant other?

This is a question for both the men and women of the Escapist. Where did you first meet your current boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse/etc.?

Reason I ask is that now that I'm graduated and have more stability (and free time!) in my life I'd like to start dating more often. Unfortunately, most of the women I'd meet in college were at school-sponsored social functions, classes, and parties with friends. Now that I'm out of school, I don't have access to those things anymore, so I'm kind of at a loss. I don't like drinking, and am not a big fan of clubs and bars (I hear those places aren't good for meeting women anyway, unless maybe you're looking for a one-night stand), so I'm trying to get some ideas.

Thanks!

I met my SO online so I might not be of too much assistance. My apologies in advance.

You could try some sort of activity club (hiking, book club, something you are interested in) Probably getting out and networking with people in general seems like a good way to meet someone.

You can try online dating but I am not sure how successful it will be. It is definitely worth a try though.

Best of luck. o3o/

I'm not going to be much help either. I met my manfriend at home...

As in I responded to an online ad looking for housemates, moved in and within 3/4? days had hooked up?/started dating?/(I don't know what we were at first because we never talked about it) my partner. At first I was going to move out because living with a partner you just met sounded like a terrible idea to both of us. But I didn't get round to it. 2 years later and we're still living together and a couple.

Trying to date your housemates aside, some of the couples I know have met:

- Through social clubs
- Whilst on holiday
- Through friends (mixing different friend circles)
- Online Dating

Interesting. I wouldn't have figured meeting people while on vacation would have worked out. Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but I'd be interested to hear how meeting someone away from home (assuming they werent from the same place) would work out into a relationship.

In any case, thanks for the input.
