Where did you think babies came from before you were given "The Talk"?

When I was little, my family was always having lots of babies, so I had a lot of cousins. I was always told that the baby was in it's "mommy's tummy." And I just accepted that and didn't really care any further. Until my mom got pregnant with my younger sibling. And they told me the facts.

My main form of entertainment as a child were science textbooks (poor family growing up, no TV, but library books cost nothing to read) so I didn't need any sort of "talk."

I never wondered where babies came from. I didn't give a damn. I was never given "the talk" either, and I don't know anyone that was.

I always thought that once a couple got married it just happened, I knew it was the woman that got pregnant but thought it happened as if it were magic or something, if the couple didn't want a baby it just wouldn't happen. I never really put much thought into the dumbness of it. I was told when I was 10 or 11 I think.

So escapists, Where did babies come from before you were given "The Talk" and how old were you when given "The Talk"?
I thought that when a mom and dad where "in love", the sperm would travel through the air into the womb. Also, I thought that babies just burst from the front of the stomach.

I was never given the talk because my parents figured that I would learn it from my perverted friends(which I did).

I wasn't stupid. Before my parents gave me the Talk, I already knew what happened. The boys at school already told me.

And by that, I mean vague innuendos. But I think I got a picture of the act. An impressionistic one mostly.

I just thought that mom's got really fat then they went to a hospital and exchanged their fat for a baby...

I found out at the age of 7 that, that was not the case. Thank you animal obession phase.

I just was told they came from Pregnant mommies. I had picked up a lot from my 4 older brothers. I think around age 9 or 10 my parents explained it to my twin brother and I, keep in mind my mother was the sexual education teacher (and 6th grade teacher) for the county we lived in... so yeah.

Getting pregnant, I asumed it just kinda happened. Even after I asked my mother, she had to repeat herself until I stopped asking why a man just couldn't make a lady drink his pee (she's a very patient woman).

Furthermore, the main thing I used to think is that babies were kinda...well, pooped out. Back then, the bum was the only hole I knew women had, so you can kind of see where I was coming from.

I knew that pregnant women gave birth to them, but up until I was about 7 I just thought that it happened. I didn't get "The Talk", I just kind of figured it out, no small thanks to the internet.

For me, it was just an extrapolation from the animals. I knew that animals had genders, and would procreate, so then I just applied that to humans.

I didn't really care. I can't remember a time when I didn't know that.

I knew that babies came from sex at an early age, but I didnt know they were extracted via the vagina until I saw a video in 7th grade biology. I always thought they just cut the stomach open and sew it back up.

I can't remember not knowing where babies came from. I don't really think I cared. I probably read it somewhere before anyone told me, knowing me.

OT: but I was visiting family who live on a farm that raised pigs for a few weeks and during the earlier part of the week I saw too pigs doing it, then in the later weeks I saw a pig give birth (obviously not that same pig as before) and when I asked where the piglet came from my cousin said from when the pigs humped like we had seen earlier.
This with Dogs and Horses, my town has a lot of breeders and my German Shepards kept doing it so consistently

I don't actually remember a time when I didn't know the answer to that question and as such I never got any 'Talk' about it.

Guess it has something to do with watching lots of documentaries and generally being a bit of a bookworm as a kid.

Well, you can blame Calvin & Hobbes for where I got it from. I thought people went to KMart or the likes and bought baby ingredients.
