Where do you buy your games?

Where do you buy your games? As a frequent traveler I'm a huge sucker for 'rewards' programs, but Best Buy is the only one who offers anything of the sort and it's only 2.5% back on accumulated purchases of $250 or more.

It seems that saving tax on internet purchases is the way to go. So generally I'll buy games through Steam.

Gamestop has a discount program on... used games. Which is nice every once in a while, but I'm usually playing new titles. My girlfriend buys her Wii games there. Also, I don't do the trade in thing at all. I'm a game pack rat. I still have my copy of Homeworld from 1999, Call of Duty (the first one) and a bunch of other games that I think I still have installed on my old gaming rig.

Anyway, where is the place you usually buy games? And do you know of any 'rewards' programs or the place to get games at the best prices? I'm thinking I'll probably stick with Steam (or newegg if I want physical media), but let me know what you guys do.

Also, has anyone used Direct2Drive? How does that compare to Steam?

Gamestop since there's nowhere else to buy games.

Walmart has shit for prices, Target never has anything in stock and there aren't any local game stores, so I just go to Gamestop.

well, if you are not worried about buying games online, then half.com is a great website to get good prices. oh, and this site is a ebay ran site, but you dont have to bid on everything... so its kinda a win win. oh, and ive never heard of direct2drive, i must research this, thank you.

I've bought most of my games off Steam since the bonus for Halflife 2 collectors edition preorder came with Every valve game and a HL2 tshirt (or hat I can't remember which) I like the portability to any computer I own. But I'm always on the lookout for a better deal. Or I'll pay a little more if the retailer has a good loyalty program.

a local used game store called game swap. cool employees and fair prices make it my only gaming store. i wish to work there.

edit: this store was open before game stop and has better prices.

Switch regularly between GAME, Cex and Gamestation.
A game I want is always bound to be cheaper in one of those shops when compared to the others.

Most new-in-box games I end up getting from Sprawl Mart. It's not because I have some great love of shopping there so much as I keep odd hours and it's the only place I can go at three in the morning that?ll sell me a new 360 game, a box of 9mm luger, some fluorescent lights along with groceries all in one go.

After that, I get a lot of used games at a local pawn shop. They pretty frequently do deals of ?3 original xbox games for $15!? which is a whole lot of game for the $20 in my pocket.

Tied with each other are Steam and Good Old Games, I trust GOG more and would like to give them more business but frequently Steam has more things I?d rather spend my $5 on. They would both be on a higher tier if I actually had a PC worth a shit, but as it stands I usually have to go to my Moms house and use her computer to actually play anything worthwhile on.

Depends on who has what and the weather...most of the time i go to Wal-Mart, Best Buy or Gamestop. If looking for a relatively older title that i know those places won't have i go to a place called BuyBacks or Allied Record Exchange.
