I might get into trouble because i've done this thread before, but i don't think i tackled it from the right angle, so i wanted to try again. Basically, i'm just curious to see some of the major disagrements people have had with an aspect (or on the whole) of one (or more) of Yahtzee's reviews. From my last post i realised that there are many many people who barely agree with anything at all he says. Personally i find not so much that i agree with Yahtzee that much on his positive opinions on games, but i appreciate his negative opinions because it prepares me for all the crap and dissapointing aspects of a game; I'm fairly cynical with most of the games i play Come to think of it, most of the games he praises i disagree with.
Here are some of mine that spring to mind currently; I didn't enjoy Painkiller that much, i liked Serious Sam alot more in comparison. I thought Mirror's Edge was a decent game, okay i would've liked it to be longer and i don't think it's quite worth full price, but the gameplay was quite exciting and the controls well simple yet effective. Also, i didn't find portal to be that almighty. Even though it was probably my favourite thing in the Orange Box and i loved the black humour, but i didn't find it challenging enough, and too much of the main game was about providing a tutorial, which was kinda lame when replaying it. Also, i liked the extensive dialogue in Mass Effect seeming as it was all pretty well written. Finally, i think Condemned 2: Bloodshot was a bit of a step up from the original in terms of gameplay (except when for the FPS levels). Whilst the atmosphere and story weren't quite as well done and it does sort of loose it's focus in the last few levels. But i thought the melee combat (which is the crux of the game) was extremely well fleshed out.
