What's so bad about 40k? Like anything else, it's justy a hobby.

I draw the line at becoming a Trekie, buying a light saber, and worshiping the Maker. I'm sure there are people out there that do after Dragon Age. Though I'm not one to talk when I RP, played WoW for 2 years and might be going to school to become a game designer. I think my line just became blurred. And also how I think the 10th doctor was the best.. Yes I guess I have sunk too low to have a line. I even have a few anime plushies and figures. Oh well I still have my punk side that MIGHT redeem me. Damn double negative of being a gamer and an Otaku, not the crazy fan girl Otaku though. I still have some pride..... even though I took Japanese...

Yeah, a hobby that requires money. That why I stick to writing and anime!
So I take it you don't buy your anime either? I got news for you but pretty much all hobbies cost money. Even videogames and anime.

Yeah, because I'm going drop several grand on stupid figures that I'll probably end up breaking when I can just put anime on my computer and have instant entertainment.

I never mentioned figures, you heard of dvds etc? So basically you pirate stuff, congrats.

What? No... that would be stupid, to be completely honest.

If something is good, would I really deny it to myself just because it's considered "nerdy?" How stupid would that be? I mean, what if I had decided not to play Final Fantasy VII because it was too nerdy? That game got me into RPGs and storytelling in video games, and my life would be a whole lot different. What if I hadn't played D&D just because it seemed too nerdy? That's a lot of fun I would not have had just because I cared more about the status that the activity represented than the activity itself.

To do or not do something solely because of its reputation is simply stupid. So no, no matter how nerdy something is, I will do it if it's okay and seems fun.

Watching Glee.

Honestly, in America Glee clubs are to be ridiculed.

And maybe it's too mainstream to be "nerdy", but if I ever watched that, I wouldn't be able to look at myself in the mirror.

That's probably the best way to do it. Drawing lines before trying seems a little extreme.

I would draw the line at driving a super-ecofriendly car. Yes, I have owned two hybrids before... but I will never be caught dead buying, driving, or really even riding in something like a Smartcar.
Just as well. "Smartcars" aren't really very ecofriendly at all, for their size. You probably got better mileage with the aforementioned hybrids. I really don't know why environmentalists gush over them so much; you'd think they'd at least be smart enough to compare MPG ratings, but I guess they just assume "itty bitty clown car = great mileage" and leave it at that.

Here's my line: I was going to use double equals signs in that last sentence, but decided it was just too much. Also this is not quite the same thing as what OP is talking about, but I don't feel the need to watch stuff just because other geeks are into it. People are often shocked that I've never seen Firefly. I like sci-fi, I guess, but for some reason I just can't be bothered to watch that show. I certainly couldn't care less how badly I'm hurting my "geek cred" by ignoring it.

Hey! Are you saying there's something wrong with Dr. Who? Because I like it. It makes me happy to be a child still :)

It's actually a decent show, not only because it's a parody, or because the music is actually really good, but it's also proof that someone, hidden in some dark corner of Fox's underground torture dungeon, has a brain and a decent idea. Plus, some of the girls are really hot.

Where I draw the line is anything I actually have to defend to myself for doing and have to exert myself to accept the defence I have laid out in lieu of something better, really. If that makes no sense, put it this way: I used to be into 40K, but then I realised, "holy shit, I'm paying waaaay too much money for something I can't even build or paint well, just so I can lose against my older brother because we have literally no neighbours. This isn't fun." Same applied for Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokemon cards (although the first snag in that game I hit was when somebody came over to see my brother and stole every single damn one, even my favourite Dratini with a slightly chewed corner because I was like 4 or 5 when I got it), etc. Really, anything that I have to convince myself I'm having fun with is where I draw the line. Also, Weeabooism and the Wapanese. They need to be killed with fire.

Also, I killed had sex with strike that, she's gross killed your mother.

Yeah, at playing World Of Warcraft, although I think that's a mix of me not liking it as well.

In fact, it's pretty much all the second one.
