Where Do You Think You Go When You Die?

What do all you educated members of the Escapist think happens when one "moves on"?

I don't get this...

Why would we go anywhere...? We're a biological machine, if you will, once we stop working, we just do... We shut down... The end... When your computer stops working, does it go anywhere? No, it's just there, just doesn't work anymore. We live, we die, we become worm food. You're not really going anywhere... I mean, why would we?

The whole "move on" concept is just an illogical and irrational belief pushed on us by fear of death and ignorance.

Only place we're going is 6ft under.

I have to agree.
Once we die, we die.
And we help some worms out.

Well, the first time I came into contact with death, I ended up giving it a lot of thought.
In the same way that, when one is on fire, one generally thinks of fire in some way.

So after about a solid month of being terrified to all hell of sleeping, I came to the conclusion that when you die, that's pretty much it.
Comforting, no?
No.

But whatever.

I share your dilema. back when my asthma was severely bad I would usually wake up half dead, and then be terrified to go to sleep. I wagered what exactly happens after death (yea I'm a christian, but it doesn't mean I didn't doubt these things). I seriously hope there is a lifetime of eternal happiness, and yea now I beleive that thats how it works.

Well we all at one point did not exist right? So if there is nothing after death, at least we will have no entitey to experience it. Thats my theory...but I was heavily medicated at the time, and still am...I'm going to bed.

When I die, my corpse shall rot in the earth after my brain shuts down forever, and I lose all thought and sentience. Depressing, but it makes me value life more.

I've kind of hoped it was like in Yu Yu Hakusho. I gain special powers and fight monsters. Maybe go on a journey. It's another stage of existence. I don't like the heaven or hell idea. Too simple for me.
But it's almost pointless to speculate on something like this.

I think we move onto some type of afterlife. But I don't have an idea as to what it might be, except that it is a better place. But I guess I am of the approach that I will find out when I get their because I don't know for sure.

Well, if there is heaven or some shit like that after death then thats cool but if there is nothing then its basically sleeping, if it is so then i will at least get a proper sleep

I can agree with that. If it's not that then yes we go to either heaven or hell. But you will eventually get to heaven (don't argue me on this!)
