They're too preoccupied with Fallout I guess.

To be honest, I don't care about Fallout.

I would easily sacrifice New Vegas for a new Elder Scrolls.
YES! GOD YES!
It's not that Fallout was a bad game, its just that to me it was WAAAY too slow and the landscape/exploring was all exactly the same.

Oh hey, theres ANOTHER scorpion! WHOA. Hey a burned tree by that rock. Oh look, a gulley and a giant beetle.
That was the thing I found to be most intolerable about Fallout; everything looked exactly the same. No variety whatsoever.

I don't know what the fuck reviewers were thinking when they bitched about Oblivion's "too similar and unvaried landscape" while they praised Fallout 3's "variety in the world"
Yeah, I hated Fallout 3 for that. I only played it for the quests and felt no need to explore. And I was always perplexed how people said everywhere in oblivion looked the same when I felt there was a diverse landscape which looked beautiful unlike another bucket load of grime that was Fallout.

God it's making me want to play it all over again...

My thoughts exactly. I enjoy fantasy more than futuristic or sci-fi stuff.

I was thinking of getting Fallout 3, but I've played about 400 hours of Oblivion, and If Fallout 3 is similar I probably wont enjoy it as much.

It's definitely a weird complaint.
Take the world map of Oblivion:
? Far to the west it's fields of gold
? A little East of there is dense forest.
? A little East of there is rolling hills.
? In the center, (Imperial City area) you get grassy plains.
? As you head East it becomes rockier then mountainous.
? In the North it is snow covered mountains that turn into tundra as you head a bit South.
? Far to the South the land gets swampy and the forest looks different than it does in the East.

Fallout 3 world Map:
? Dust, sand and hills as far as the eye can see.
(Please note, this works for a post-apocalyptic wasteland)
But Fallout's setting, for the most part, is beautiful. There really isn't that much variety in Oblivion, it still looks pretty similar, and there's absolutely nothing worth finding out there. Unlike Fallout's unique locations, and dungeons that tell a story (although some of them are pretty uninspired, they easily beat Oblivion's endless copy/paste caves/Ayleid ruins/forts).

Bethesda will probably continue their one game per console generation thing they've got going. Which means not new game until quite a bit later.

Of course VGReleases.com places the release date this year, but that's not all that reliable, is it?

I'd assume that a game like Oblivion would take forever to make. They can't be done with it yet, though. There are still many lands that we've never been to, and there's supposed to be a lot of troubles in the Black Marsh.

New vegas is being done by a different group. The next TES game is being done by the group that did F3

I remember reading that it wouldn't be until 2011 before we would see TES 5.
Wish I could remember where I read it....
I think it was a member of bethesda who said it bould I could be wrong.

Im really wanna know where it is too. My friend said that he heard somewhere that it takes places back on Vvardenfell 100 years after the events of Morrowind and that gunpowder got discovered. It probably all bullshit though
If 100 hundred years after is after Oblivions timeline then, yes it's bullshit.I remember reading Obsidian saying Bethesda don't make games that go back in time. The new versions are in front of the last games timeline.Like Oblivion after Morrowind and the next game will be set after Oblivion. Do you know what I am saying
You sorta just contradicted yourself in that post, but yeah. And thats pretty much what I said. Only shorter and not as detailed

Ten bucks says Todd Howard and Pete Hines are hard at work on it as we speak, and they've probably been in full development cycle since Fallout 3 came out. I expect an announcement at E3 and a mid-2011 release.
There won't be an announcement at E3 apparently. According to this article at least: http://www.uesp.net/

Its been about four years since the release of an Elder Scrolls game. Bethesda has developed only one game (according to wikipedia, correct me if I'm wrong) between then and now, which was Fallout 3. Unless Bethesda is doing an underground development by dropping us little hints now and then while they are polishing up the game, where exactly is it?

Drop your ideas below.
they stopped the series shortly after fallout 3. the elder scrolls is over.
I seriously doubt they stopped making a series which makes millions of dollars and they have years of experience in.
