When I pay for something on Ebay with a credit card, it says it only takes 1 dollar off the credit card itself (I use prepaid credit cards) so where does the actual money come from?

It might be just take time to process the transaction to your account. For instance, whenever I buy Petrol and use my card on my Online Balance it only has 1 dollar taken off from X Gas Station. A couple of days goes by and it'll jump up to the amount I paid for. This should be happening with you as well so plan for it, don't overdraw!

If you're buying stuff with a credit card, then the money comes from the company that gave you the card. They'll want you to pay you back, of course.
