Where is this generations Okami?

So I've been looking for a game to amuse myself but I can't seem to find a game that holds my interest.

I already have the Orange Box set, Bioshock, Devil May Cry 4 and Dead Rising.
Tried Dead Space but although it was all right it just doesn't get my interest.
Last game I really enjoyed playing and had the "Oh shit is 4 am already!" effect was the
Penny-Arcade episodes.

So my question is, is there any recent game out there which is similar to Okami or maybe a good J-RPG?

There was this game called Nobi Nobi that kind of reminded me of okami. It had the same style of art direction

Well, if you're looking for a good J-RPG, try Eternal Sonata, I love it. On the note of Okami though...it's not gonna happen this generation. Okami was a once-in-a-lifetime masterpiece, one that will not be challenged for a considerable number of years.

Yeah, that may be true. Maybe I'll just dust of the PS2 and give it another whirl, take a round of Shadow of the Colossus also.

Hopefully something good will be announced this E3.

In other words, where is this generation's insanely over-rated, under-powered, tedious game with its only saving grace being a unique art-style and one interesting gameplay mechanic?

Meh.

Oh, and Okami is just as much this generation's Okami as any other game. It wasn't really worth it until it was ported to the Wii.

That is a very odd comparison...

Anyway, none really come to mind, but the art style is closest to Valkyia Chronicles, which is no-where near as bad as yahtzee makes out.

Isn't Okami this generations Okami? I mean the freaking game is on the Wii for gods sake. It's not like it's Super Mario Brothers old.

Yeah, but that was a port. The original game was on the PS2, technically last gen.

Anyway, I don't know. I loved Okami as well (My desktop background is from it), and I'm not sure we'll find something very much like it (although it does follow the Zelda formula, so we can go with that). But you know what? That's a good thing, if we found another, it wouldn't be unique, same goes for Psychonauts (although I'm still holding on vainly for a sequel for that).
