Gun stores
grocery stores
walmart
wholesale stores (like CostCo)

For all you people who say "I would just hole up in a Walmart!" guess what? Even seen the Hunger Games? Those places will be like the Cornucopia. So have fun with that.

Now, keeping that in mind, where would you go?

I have a supermarket not 5 minutes from my house so I'd go there ONCE for initial supplies then I'd head to a bulkbuy outlet in the next city, much more defensible. Basically a giant warehouse, much more cover, plenty of shit around for barricades and, obviously, a metric fuckton of supplies to last. The one I'm thinking of happens to be across the street from both a car dealership and a petrol station. I consider it a pretty good base of operations since it's far on the outskirts of the city so the only way to get there is by nice, easily visible road.

My will to live will probably DROP during a zombie apocaplypse, so hospital. I either die, or I find survivors. Good either way, right?

Well, you'll probably die then. lol. Hospitals in any apocalypse will be a Cornucopia on steroids.

In a zombie apocalypse.... well. I'm sure we've all played Left for Dead.

I'd head to a Dick's sporting goods, even though it may not be the safest. But even if it is hit initially, I'm sure they're be at least something there to be used, since it's stocked with guns, and many many sharp and blunt objects. Plus if you need transportation, Roller blades are my choice if weather permits. Quick, and allow 2 hands and full leg access. Only issues you'd have are with stairs (trust me, I had quite a bit of an issue with them during HvZ @ the Escapist Expo...for those who saw that roller blading guy with the yen necklace)

Any area with a shopping outlet or large amount of them would be a bad place to go. People flock to not only places they think they can get supplies, but also to familiar places. Farther from the city is also a good idea.

After this season of The Walking Dead, prisons are probably out now too.

Prisons are the worst place you could possibly go. No telling whether the infection got inside (in which case you are in a very cramped building with few exits and hundreds of zombies) or the infection didn't get inside in which case you are walking into a very cramped building with few exits and hundreds of potentially violent inmates.

I would avoid churches like the fucking plague. The only things I would find there would be infected/zombies or, insane shotgun priests waiting for more people meat. I would probably go to any given apartment building and just hole-up in the top floor after having raided every home on the floors leading up to said top-floor. Odds are every one of those homes would equal enough supplies to comfortably live off of for a couple of months and the top of an Apartment Building is easy to fortify in that you can block off the exits/ways up while still fabricating a safe way down for your own personal use. I would go to a hardware store first to load up on sledge hammers and, saws so as to renovate (ie: turn the homes on the top-floor into a single, large living space).

I'd probably just stay in my house. I've definitely got enough food to last a couple of months, and if the electricity or gas gets shut off well, then I'm pretty screwed no matter where I go. I don't see much point in upping sticks without knowing where I'm going, though.

Am I the only one here thinking about the fact that the OP thought Zombie Apocalypse might be preceded with an "an?" Nobody? WHATTHEFUCKDUDE.GIF

Now, obviously, those'll be toast. However, military bases? Big nono. They'll shoot you in a heartbeat if they're ordered to.

I'd probably fly to China, where I have relatives with enough connections to get me into whatever VIP base the minor officials get to hole up in. Either I die because the guy next to me on the plane was infected, or I live out the apocalypse in relative comfort.

If I missed the time frame in which you can still get a flight, I'd hole up in my house. I have two pistols and enough ammunition on hand to uh, probably kill three zombies and then kill myself, and enough food, water, batteries, kerosene, basic first aid stuff, etc to last a little bit. Plus we have a ton of firewood, and maybe that can be chopped up and used to board the windows?

My house is strangely well stocked with so many bottles of water and cans of food. I could just loot all the old people living near me if I ran out since I could easily overpower them.

Depends on which stage of the ZA is in. Straight off the bat, yeah, it's a shitty idea to go into a place where criminals are held. However, as time goes on, it's worth checking out. If you've lasted long enough and have enough to hunt through, you can sleep safe behind lockable doors that have ways to not only see through but fight through as well. That area can be double secured in groups. Plus shorter corridors plus either personal vigilance or extra help means less chances to be attacked and overwhelmed.

They are secure locations, and if you live long enough to make it to one after the initial outbreak they are good locations. You just need to be smart, patient, and have a bit of luck on your side.

Hospitals are not a good idea to hide in because usually people who are infected will try go there to get diagnosed by the doctors.

A good place to go would be a lake. I can get a boat and live in the middle of the lake. I can fish for food, drink from the lake, and zombies can't reach me.

First trip would be down the street to my aunt and uncle's house to see if I could beg, borrow, or buy a gun from them. Because I don't have any guns, but my uncle is a hunter and has several. Second trip, probably to the nearest wilderness area. Just find a place out in the middle of nowhere and hide. With any luck, I'd use more bullets on food than zombies.

Better yet, visit your nearest Biology-prominent university, grab every hydroponic specialist you can find and go hijack a cruise liner.

The mountains. Get out of the city (and people) as fast as possible. You can hunt, trap, fish, and get water from creeks. If anyone tries to weigh you down on the way out get rid of them and take their supplies. Only use my rifle in serious situations, use the bow and the knife for everything else, keep it quiet.

But I'll probably end up setting up roadblocks or something anyway. At least I'll die bustin' caps into crowds of people.

Any city or large area of population. A hospital always seemed like a bad place to go (despite medical supplies).
