Stay away from surivors, avoid the countryside and hit the cities. That's where all your other zombie pals are gonna be anyways.

The pet shop!

Everything in there is either food or a living weapon!

Why risk infection by fighting zombies yourself with a chainsaw when you can let loose the hounds or even a big ass snake?

Why eat stale and dry food from cans when you can enjoy freshly cooked hamsters and deep fried goldfish?

A school. It has food, basic medicines, lots of space, gym equipment like hockey stick and rugby rucking shields to use as weapons; you're pretty much sorted. The school may or may not be dangerous though, there could be no one in or it could be filled with zombie children.

I might make a shop run before heading there but that would depend on how everyone found out about it and how dangerous it was.
Heh. The school I went to had rifles and ammo in the basement. So that'd be the first place I went. After, of course, offing my family, because the chances of actually surviving the initial outbreak, and other humans is really quite low.

My family got a summerhouse in a remote area where I can easily hold up with plenty of land to grow some crops and put up good defenses, so that's where I am going.

Ptsh, I have a rather extensive zombie defence plan, mainly because I live in a small out of the way fortified tower block with many metal doors and only one thin corridor to get to us. In the event of the Zombie apocalypse, we murder everyone else in the building, use all their furniture to barricade the hallways. Then put their bodies on deep freeze in order to use as bait if needs be when we go for supplies. Being in the UK guns are pretty much out of the question, but we'd be so well held up that we wouldn't really need any, there's no way they're getting in here. You also get a massive field of vision, allowing you to survey the area really easy.

We have easy access to the roof, so we can collect rainwater, we can construct a diesel powered generator for electricity, have a multitude of melee and makeshift weapons, access to other buildings roofs if needs be, and the bmw of one of the residents we can steal if we need to make a break for it.

Due to us being so holed in, we just wait it out till most of the place is dead or zombified, then just scavenge the surrounding areas for food. Once we run out of feasible places to raid, we take the beamer to a farmhouse where we meet up with a few friends who also have an extensive zombie plan we've factored into ours, then start a new utopia.

Of course if they're fast zombies, I'm staying in the fucking tower block.

Yeah I considered a school once, but you're right it could be filled with zombie children. Plus they tend to have quite a lot of maze like corridors and multiple entrances. Depending on how many of you there are, it could get very tricky to defend, as there's lots of places for the zombies to fill up if they find you and you may end up spread out or separated if the zombies come through more than one entrance at once and you need to block them up. They do tend to have a lot of medical supplies though, so it's they're worth raiding if it's classic zombies.

I'll stick with the tower block, as far as I'm concerned, safest civilian tier place outside of top tier hideouts like Bunkers.

In a zombie apocalypse, the best place to hang out in a vulture sanctuary. Flocks of birds with a taste for dead flesh can keep the zombies at bay, while you can tuck in to the meat they were meant to be eating.
You my friend are a fucking genius, why has no one ever thought of this before, it's magnificent!
You can't wait out a zombie apocalypse like that. Zombies don't tire of a siege and go home. YOU are their food, they won't leave to find more. They will just gather numbers until they eventually break through or you die. And also - murder everyone in the building? How on Earth do you plan on doing that without taking any damage at all? People don't die easily, you know, murder is messy business. You'll likely get your whole team killed.

I used to live next to an English civil war era castle. Restored, a full circle wall, a hefty gatehouse...you know how castles are. Given how long it took me to notice it might be effective in a zombie apocalypse, maybe it'll be relatively unnoticed by the panicking masses trying to escape the city.

Head into the woods in the mountains. Less people there also means less zombies. Maybe I can find a forester or hiking hut. I would make sure to pass by a supermarket on my way out of town, though, to stock up on food and stuff and make sure to bring most of my hiking gear.

a hydro dam.

fish, fresh water, highly secured, and they usually have a boat or two. Not to mention can generate power on its own. Space will be more of an issue than supplies, but so long as any person fishes their own food, i can not see why someone would deny access to survivors so long as they are not crazy or violent. Even then, without the know how of plant operations, killing the people who work there would mean no power.

Not to mention most of them are out of the way. And with power generating....who knows. Maybe this will give other survivors a chance or help them out somehow.

Another plan, but is far riskier. Since i live in buffalo, NY I would try to secure Grand Island. It is a big island with boats, water, food, and more than enough supplies and space to grow food. If it can be secured not only could you outlive the zombies but you could rebuild society as well. This is dependent on blowing up two bridges and eliminating all zombies on the island, but the reward would be well worth it.

I live on a small 20 mile long island with about 300k people so I'm basically fucked. I guess there's a lot of boats around but a lot of people have boats (island and all) so all the survivor hold up scenes would just happen at sea instead of on land. Everywhere's basically connected by road. The joke here is even if you go camping to be in the "great outdoors" you can just jump in your car and drive back home in 10 minutes for a shower and a shit. So here's what I'd do:

My only real choice would be to bunker down, the roads would be PACKED TO THE BRIM and everywhere worth going would already be full up. I live in an apartment building on the second floor and the building itself is already elevated so you need to go up a floor to enter te "ground" floor so barricading the living shit out of that area is easy. Within a block radius from me (3 minute casual stroll, 1 minute sprint) there's 6 mini-markets full of food and toiletries and 2 hardware stores.

Lots of round trips til the streets become dangerous then it's just a case of hunkering down and trying to organise the neighbours so we can set up some legit defensive procedures.
