This.

And, as said, cyberpunk would be sick. It'd be really really nice if they could keep up the kind of stories they did with RDR and GTA4. I'd buy it in an instant

Another Open World/Sand box game, duh. But instead of people under the sea or in space with pirates it should be... THE ENTIRE PLANET!!

SET THE BAR HIGH ROCK STAR AND PIERCE THE HEAVENS WITH A GAME SO EPIC THE PS3 AND PCS WILL SH*T THEMSELVES TRYING TO RUN IT!

Except for the 360 which will have it on 500,000 DVDs requiring you to change the disc every few kilometers :p

I really want to see a GTA game set in a fictional version of Detroit. Especially if it includes a little bit of Canada in the game.

Think about it: GTA: Motor City.
I would very much like to see this game...I live in that part of the state, by the way. Let's hope that they wouldn't try to mix it with the Cyberpunk idea by drawing inspiration from RoboCop, though...*shudder*

Other than that, I would also like to see more of that Pirate idea. The question is, what would be the main locations the player could travel through? I liked the sailing in The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, but to sail across the whole Atlantic and Caribbean to link the British Isles, the area of New England, the Carolinas, the Florida Keys, and the Caribbean islands? That's a bit much, maybe...

As for my original ideas...I can think of some locations:
*Modern-day Australia, probably in the vicinity of Sydney or some other populous region, with forays into the Outback.
*Modern-day Shibuya, Japan. Crowded streets, lots weird outfits (everything from high fashion to cosplay), high technology...this wouldn't go badly with the Cyberpunk idea, actually.
*The area of Hong Kong, late 1990's, before the place was cleaned up. Unfortunately, though, that new True Crime game may have beat them to it already...

Any takers?

Well, they created a fictional European state, so maybe a fictional war-torn African, South American, Caucus, or Asian state to do stuff in. Otherwise I'd love to see some European or an Australian city involved. London, Sydney or Berlin, you could have a lot of fun in them all.

Other than that I vote for pirates.

I agree.

A pirate sandbox game would be pretty cool.
There is one coming out, a Pirates of the Caribbean game. Last I heard, it was due out this Christmas, but last time I heard was a long time ago.

Sorry to say, but Sydney *really* isn't that different to american cities, just replace some of the population with asians.

Modern Japan would be a nightmare to recreate, waaaay too much detail required.

The future seems like it'd be ripe for the picking, but as much as I'd like to see it, something makes me doubt they'll do it. I'm fairly sure they could take the GTA IV/RDR engine, build a hyper-futuristic metropolis with five-hundred storey skyscrapers, flying cars, androids, self-drying jackets, and give us one big badass sandbox sci-fi epic.

I also agree with the idea of pirates.

Arr.

I still think that the area covered by Far Cry 2, namely war-torn failed states of Sub-Sahara Africa, is ripe for further exploration. I think Rockstar could easily make a dark, gritty, serious, confronting sandbox game in that kind of setting.
