Of course, Marvel comics seems to hate Canada. All of the shady government programs like Weapon X were Canadian, not to mention a vast number of its psychotic projects.

I've always believed it was a stereotype created back when the USA was trying to get independence from Britain and just generally thought that the Canadians liked the English/British and wanted to be more like them.

Therefore the stereotype of the British and the Canadians are the same.

(This theory is flawed i know.)

I thought canadians where huge bearded dudes who wore bear pelts and worked as lumberjacks.

Also, their faces seems like they're sliced horizontally and they love fart jokes...
"I'm not your buddy, friend. "
Southpark jokes get dragged in, "I'm not your friend, pal."

Beyond the idea that Canada is much more diplomatically attuned than the U.S., and statistically seems like a safer, cleaner place to live, I can't help you out there.

Though if it's any consolation, I live in America, and there's fair number of unpleasant people. They're just misconceptions borne of a generality that may be based on fact or not.

I can't wrap my head around this idea of Canadians as overly nice.
But you're a Canadian, so you don't notice, come and live in a European city for a few months then you will see that Canadians are in fact really nice all the time.

Are you kidding? When we bump into inanimate objects we apologize. I've seen it happen. I've done it. We're pathologically polite.

Anyway, there are unpleasant people everywhere - and they always leave the stronger impression.
I've done it too.

Even when we examine history, Canadians were seen as elite soldiers up until after World War 2 (the Americans have this tendency to make every other country in both World War's sound obsolete, so it's understandable to have no idea about Canada's involvement).
Don't worry about your military, you guys can take pride in knowing that the Newfoundlander's are one of the most celebrated units of WW1. And also the Canadians were at the D-Day landings at Juno, one of the most heavily defended stretches of the beachhead.

Happy?

The Ami's are, as you say, too egotisical to acknowledge others in "their" *waits for the fits of laughter to subside* war. That's why the rest of the Allies aren't given any credit.

Because the first exposure to anything thought to be Canadian that most Americans had was either Strange Brew (love that movie) or the South Park movie.
