It would be nice if it was set somewhere other then america.Like china for instance.I mean they was the ones the war was with.I'm sure they had vaults or something of that nature as well.
The problem with that is that, the vaults were NEVER created to actually protect from Nuclear weapons. Granted, they do, but that isn't their real reasons:

Officially, the vaults were nuclear shelters designed to protect the American population from nuclear holocaust. However, with a population of almost 400 million by 2077, the U.S. would need nearly 400,000 vaults the size of Vault 13, while Vault-Tec was commissioned to build only 122 such vaults. The government, and Vault-Tec, never really believed an actual nuclear war would occur; the real reason for the existence of these vaults was to run social experiments on pre-selected segments of the population to see how they react to the stresses of isolation and how successfully they recolonize Earth after the vault opens.

This is also why almost certianlly no other countries had them, there wasn't a huge rush to make them because no one thought it would actually happen.

New Orleans would be nice, all that smooth Jazz and the super mutant alligators. Lush green swamps It would make a nice change from grey cities and brown dusty wastelands.
Great idea. I'm shocked I have never seen anybody say this before. My mind is racing at the possibilities.

I don't know.... Maine? I guess fog could be a cool element. All the little port towns could be cool to explore. Also I want to see Maine get nuked. Nothing personal.

Why not Cleveland? A place barely effected by bombs, but close enough for radiation to impact a bit. If you think about it, areas that aren't major cities anymore, or superpowers now, would be bigger cities in the future when they're left mostly unharmed since they aren't a major threat.

Tell me running around the Rock and Roll hall of fame and being able to play around in there wouldn't be just rad

It had better not do Canada. Setting it in Canada would require it to deal with the fact that the US annexed Canada by force, and portraying that as an actual issue would take the tone of it away from the Fallout brand white-picket-fence, Pro-America, Anti-Communist feel that defines it. And if it didn't, there'd be no point in setting it in Canada rather than somewhere else in America where they can explore new stuff.

Besides, I don't really like the idea of a future where the US annexes Canada. Jackasses.

But yeah, they'll definitely go somewhere NEW. I don't know where, but same ol', same ol' isn't really an option.

A better question might be how long will it be til another one comes out? I mean, New Vegas is what, a year and a bit old? I know Bethesda didn't develop it, but they'll probably want to leave a bit of a gap.

In New Vegas. It's already happened yo.
As for a legitimate answer, perhaps somewhere southern, could get some old country music going
Maybe Texas? and have large mutated bulls

Personally i would like to see it set in en England/Scotland, there's something about the idea of blowing a mutated Scottish highlander that appeals to me...And London would be a good setting, think of the traditional London mist...then picture it in a steampunk, post apocalyptic world with mutants shambling through the fog.

In the mysterious land, of Toronto Canada.

And Scott Pilgrim will be dating a high-schooler.
The whole thing is set along Yonge Street and the 401. Not really much in the way of major landmarks. The CN Tower and Air Canada Center would have collapsed. What does that leave? A highway and a bunch of low to the ground houses.

Toronto's a boring City. Put it in Montreal or Quebec City so that we could juxtapose modern with the older colonial parts of the settlement.

I want somewhere really out in the middle of butt fuck nowhere, i don't really know America all that well so i can't pick somewhere. But i want it away from the developing wasteland world, not what new vegas did, taking away the small settlements and such and giving luxury and gambling. It's common human methodology, you don't thrive until you can survive without doubt. That is what fallout is about, as well as the subtext towards war and human nature. So please, although it is in and of it's self a aspect of human nature to conquer and control, put us somewhere less developed, still barbaric, still barking up the evolutionary tree of anarchy. Give us a plot which demands respect, not American power fantasy's. Fallout 1 and 2 were beautiful for that, the 3rd to me, had the best story due to the extremely large group it's plot would effect. But new vegas was maintaining luxury, that doesn't fly in the wasteland. It's the renascence with guns.
New Vegas as an American Power Fantasy? That's an interesting take. I don't necessarily agree with it, but I can sort of see it.

However, if that angle was being played, it is undercut by New Vegas' insistence on showing just how flawed a supposedly idyllic world truly is. New Vegas is a beacon of progress in the post apocalyptic world. It is also rife with corruption, petty crime, and backstabbing syndicates only kept in line through the collective firepower of a Robot Army.

The New California Republic is the best chance at a functioning society, but it is falling apart under its own weight, and several of the Tribal groups feel that its death would be for the best.

Cesar's Legion was built on the corpses of countless tribes, showing just how bad organized society can become, stamping out smaller cultures in favor of a brutal regime. It is a dark parallel to the NCR, and just as fragile.

Set it in Russia or China. We've had enough games in the U.S. already.
Russia's been covered by S.T.A.L.K.E.R and Metro 2033, so no need to worry there.

One of the main things about Fallout is its emphasis on 50's Era American xenophobia and paranoia. That culture makes up the visual aesthetic for the games themselves, which is why the series has never left North America.

That's not to say that it couldn't, but it would have to play things carefully when choosing an overseas location.

China and Russia are probably the best bets, because it would allow the juxtaposition of 50's paranoia against the communist ideologies that brought about the culture in the first place.

Denver would be kind of cool, it's dog city baby. The city is covered with packs of roving feral dogs, and the skyscrapers are all connected as scavengers, well, scavenge the tops and stay away from the dogs. I'd want to see what happened to the Native Americans, as they didn't have land that would have warranted nuking, and I imagine they'd be back with a prejudice, I imagine that the government would have a huge forceful assimilation program.

Europe annhalted itself in it's own war, the mid east uber nuked itself, Russia would let down all the fans because in Fallout universe, it's far from being a super power. Also it's tradition.

Canada, obviously. Everything else good has been happening to them recently. I don't mean one city, or anything like that. I mean all of Canada. All of it. This of course would lead to a scenario where not all of the map would be Fallout-esque. Parts of it might even be, you know, livable. Not build around unexploded atomic bombs. With clean water, and things like civil police forces, where stealing and murder are still wrong, and there exists a federal currency, and places to exchange said federal currency for products that were lawfully traded and sold. Just think how much a loop that would throw you, as you stumbled into town trying to trade your in your bottlecaps, only to find them utterly useless. Imagine how much of a prat you'd look, wearing your leather skins and cooking pans, next to people wearing normal attire. Ha!

Because the franchise is inexorably linked with 1950s Americana. The unique flavor of the franchise comes from the contrast between the relentless optimism of the period (the retrofuturistic elements, happy-go-lucky advertisements) transposed against the underlying Cold War paranoia of the same era (the fact that all of the above has been blown to hell by a nuclear war). Removing one of the above elements would remove that contrast, leaving you with a flatter experience.

edit: Canada might be interesting though, given the background, but what Bethesda established in FO3 leads me to believe that their next game will be set somewhere in the American Northeast.
