I got mine from the idea I had about having two personalities in my posts, but then saw Jack and Calumon and cried on the inside.

I got mine from "Gaunts Ghosts: Guns of Tanith" a Warhammer 40K novel by Dan Abnett.

Been using Mkvenner for a few years now.

Lbs is what my dad put in the old school arcade games he used to get the high score in. J and R are my initials and i'm his son(obviously). Seemed actually appropriate.

Back when Star Wars Galaxies was good, I used the random name generator in that to make my character's name. Gave me "Otec Lightstrider", and it stuck for my other internet stuff.

I got the nickname Pyro early in 3rd grade because I used to always play with lighters and matches at school. When I got to high school I had the tendency to walk off with other peoples lighters without even realizing it and people started joking around saying "watch your lighters, the pyrokleptic is here" and stuff like that. I started using it after that for all my screen names and my gamertag.

My buddy Luke thought of it back in eighth grade during an assignment in English. Some thing about an "El Bernardino" or something. I forget exactly. But he decided it sounds like my name and so, nickname.

I'm a massive Grimsby town F.C. fan (sadly)
and their nickname is 'the mariners' because Grimsby is traditionally a fishing town
so it's not hard to see the jump i made to get Supermariner

Battletech (the boardgame that Mechwarrior is based off of).

Left the self-exiled militant clans leading a long-term scouting party into the main human sphere of influence (which had no idea that the clans existed at this point), founded the largest mercenary group in the setting (large enough to own their own planet), turned on the clans and helped the rest of humanity fight off their invasion, and wasn't killed until someone glassed the planet and then STILL HAD TO SEND IN MERCENARIES TO FIND AN OVER EIGHTY YEAR OLD MAN. What could make him more of a badass? He took out an entire company (12 mechs plus support) of the mercenaries nearly singlehandedly.

Badassery aside, I also just like the name (it's pronounced "Jame", not "Hay-me" nor "Jamie") and the character is obscure enough that it's not obnoxious.

In high school it was my nickname because I transferred there in the middle of the year so I didn't have a locker... instead I had a bag that I carried around and referred to as my "Rucksack" as a nod to the beginning of KH2 where the struggle champion calls Roxas Rucksack on accident... and henceforth my nickname became Sacman...

I got mine from playing The Battle for Middle Earth II, noticing Glorfindel, wondering who he was, looking it up, finding out he was replaced by Arwen for the most part, as Arwen is a rather small character, and figuring he was badass, and adding Iron in front because it sounded cool.

A couple of years ago, I had been known on youtube under a different, silly username that I had gotten fed up with. One of my friends brought me into a skype call with her pals and introduced me as "Big Hairy Marty" and that was when it finally occurred to me what my perfect username would be, seeing as it takes my name into account whilst describing my very appearance at the same time. It's the kinda username I hope to keep using for a long time =)
