HD remakes. They're the rage nowadays. New 'n' Tasty, Grim Fandango, and so many others it hurts the brain. Though a lot of titles have been given the works, not all of them have. I'm sure we've all got a few we desperately want to see remade to enjoy the games of 'ole again. So what would yours be fine members of the Escapist?

I gotta big one. Destroy All Humans 1 and 2[footnote]Path of the Furon and that abomination on the Wii didn't exist[/footnote] The first game let us bring destruction to the U.S. All the way from farmland to the Washington DC itself. The second brought us to the global scale. Both games were fantastic and something I'd love to play again with shiny HD graphics.

I've got another one too. Godzilla: Save the Earth. Hands down best Godzilla game to date. Great roster, tight controls, and awesome maps to destroy. It's been years since we've had a Kaiju fighting game[footnote]Colossal Kaiju Combat doesn't count. The game actually needs to be fucking released for someone to play it.[/footnote]and we desperately need another one. This one is my favorite, only being beat by War of the Monsters. Which has already been released as a PS2 classic on PSN. I know trademarks will get in the way, but damnit I want it.

So those are mine. Hit me with yours!

One would be insanely crazy ... but awesome to make a HD remake of Destroy All Humans.
I loved that shit more than my own childhood!

As for my choices of remakes.
I would like to pick the (good) Crash Bandicoot series. Not just so we can look at Crash in today's generation, but so we could replay them once again, in all of their glory!

... especially the racing games and Twinsanity, God I loved those times.

I would say Jak and Daxter, but hey, they already got a release ... but I wouldn't mind if Naughty Dog returned to them to make a PS4 version with great graphics, if they can. Well, this package would also include the grand racing game that is Jak X, now that was just as fun as the Crash Racing games.

EDIT: Oh goodness, now I've remembered Crash Tag Team Racing. That shit was almost orgasmic to me.

The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction

The best Hulk game I've ever played on both the GameCube and PS2 and the though of an HD version of it would be smashtacular... especially seeing all the destructive environments...

Other than that, a 3D Sonic HD collection? Or just Sonic Riders would do just nicely as well...

Final Fantasy XII... so very much. I love this game, and while the X/X-2 Remaster gives me hope I'm not holding my breath, I really want to see this get made, I would even pre-order it!

Others I would really like to see:

Mercenaries (the first one)
Abe's Exoddus (now that New N' Tasty is out... I hope this will happen)
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (An HD Remaster of a remaster!)
Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance and Champions of Norrath (this series by Snowblind was awesome and deserves a re-master!)
Star Wars Battlefront & Battlefront II (just because)

I would like to see the Level-5 Games re-mastered, particularly Dragon Quest VIII, Rogue Galaxy, and Dark Cloud 2 but their wise decision to use cel-shaded graphics means they haven't aged as noticeably as other 3D games that rely purely on textures, and HD Remasters usually don't up the polygon count or change original meshes so there's a limit on what a remaster could do with them.

if I said "almost everything made by Square for the PS 1" and left it at that would people think I was lazy cause I don't feel like punching that list up right now?

A Destroy All Humans! collection would be nice. I forgot who bought the license when they were de-boning THQ's corpse (read: selling off its IPs), but someone should get on the horn with them and make it happen.

I'm still waiting for a Dark Cloud, Dark Cloud 2/Dark Chronicle, and Rogue Galaxy collection. Those three put Level-5 on the map, long before Professor Layton came around.

Activision has the rights to both Crash and Spyro, yet Crash sits and collects dust, while Spyro was practically demoted to extra once Skylanders could survive without him. What's the deal with that, Activision? I'd love to see at least Sonic Generations style games for both the orange guy and the purple guy (preferably focusing on their PS1 days).

I got the Jak HD Collection and really felt cheated by not getting Jak X. It didn't make sense either, since they were all PS2 games, so the porting hardships should have been taken care of by the time they got to the 4th game. ND should return to Jak for at least one new game or a reboot.

I second this motion. X/X-2 got their HD re-release on two (soon three) systems. Everything else is getting ported to PC (with VII and VIII using their old PC versions) or got a re-release on one of Sony's 3 latest systems. But, XII, the last good one? Nope. *hopes his PS2 and mem card lasts so he can play FFXII and Dark Cloud 1 and 2 again someday*

Hm...only two games really come to mind for me.

Final Fantasy VII because I'm one of those people, and Final Fantasy VIII because that one is my favorite. Of course, both of those are probably not going to happen, but I can still hope.

Oh! Also, how about HD remakes of both Knights of the Old Republic games? And give the second one its restored content? I'd buy those in a flash.

Does the upcoming Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin count? I know it's not going to be out till April 7th, but I already played the daylights out of the original game so that has to automatically be my favorite HD gig right there. Plus texture mods make it worth replaying trust me lol.
Finally, someone else who is as excited about this as I am. Hopefully I'll have completed a run in Bloodborne by then, but I'll be getting my PS4 copy of Scholar on the first day.

Most HD Remasters seem to only go as far back as the Sixth Generation Consoles, mostly because you can usually just upscale the textures, throw in some advanced post processing, and up the resolution and you're good, with Fifth Generation you literally need to rebuild from the ground up, at least with any 3D game since polygon counts were very low and very noticeable even with high res textures on them.

That being said, this thread is for Remakes as well as Remasters, so I do agree there are A LOT of games on PS1 I'd love to see remade.

Paritcularly Final Fantasy VII, Dragon Warrior 7 (which I think is getting a Japanese remake for 3DS), Spyro the Dragon (the original trilogy), Shadow Madness, and Jade Cocoon.

As much as I like to say graphics don't matter much for good games, I guess it's a telling sign that my two favorite games from PS1 are Suikoden II and Legend of Mana, both of which use 2D Drawn graphics instead of 3D.

I'd love to see a version of Stubbs the Zombie for PC or 360 that actually works. The Steam one doesn't have music, and the hit detection is so bad I couldn't kill the first human, who were simply transparent green rectangles, not actually rendered models.

Give me Starlancer HD and I'll be happy.

Or the extremely underrated Battlestar Galactica game for the PS2.

KoTOR I & II(though they still look okay),
Jedi Knight I & II (using something like the Shadow Warrior engine),
True Crime Streets of LA(since you are a police officer who fistfights North Korean generals and duels dragons with Desert Eagles),
Battlefront II using Frostbite(though that's kind of already in-works)
...

All I can think of for now. Mostly old Star Wars games, since that's what I used to play as a kid(though not KoTOR I or II: only got to them much later) that still holds up and could be pretty great with a HD boost.

I'd like a real HD remake of Silent Hill 3.

People like to talk about how Silent Hill 2 is ruined because of that 2012... thing they released, forgetting that the also-awesome Silent Hill 3 was subjected to that pain. I'd love to see this aesthetic under better graphics, just don't change the fucking voices.

Resident Evil 2, and Metroid Prime both get my vote! I'd love to see them spruced up for current generation hardware.

I'm quite looking forward to the HD rerelease of Ratchet and Clank. Also the inevitable HD remake of Ratchet and Clank : Locked And Loaded.

Also quite interested in the movie that's been announced...

I wouldn't mind a Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered with all the DLC included.

It'd also be nice if Capcom could give Onimusha 1 and 2 an HD spitshine. Though with the two main characters owing their likeness to real actors, Capcom may not want to pay the royalties for re-releasing those games.

The first two inFAMOUS games would be nice, too.

And ofcourse a proper remaster of Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee.

My first thought is Star Raiders- the first video game I ever played; a game that, even then, you could tell was held back only by the limitations of the technology; a game that screamed of potential and the wonders of what video games could do, even to my three-year-old mind. But we got an "updated" Star Raiders; one that managed the seemingly impossible task of making being a hotshot space pilot boring. Perhaps it's better to just let that one go until a less stupid era. In that case, Darklands. The graphics are what holds a lot of people back from that game: they weren't very good for the time, and that time was 1992. When even a veteran Nethack player hears "I couldn't get past the graphics", looks at the game in question, and thinks "Yeah, that's understandable", it really says something.

There is one that i love from the Ps1 era, Legend of Dragoon, i would love that game HD remastered, i like the combat system, the story and the characters, i miss that game. Another one, would be the first Parasite Eve remastered in HD, another poster said that most of the PS1 Square games should be relaunched like this, and i agree with this, that library is awesome, and i would welcome a PC launch of Chrono Cross.

Capcom could do a REmake of RE2 and RE3, and make the game into one, really, it's possible, first you start as Jill, them you play scenario A in RE2, Carlos part in RE3, then scenario B, and finish it playing Jill again for the finale, it would be reallt interesting, and the Mercenaries mode could be expanded.

A game that i would love a REmake, is Final Fantasy VI, that is one of my dreams.

I'd be all over a HD remake of Banjo-Kazooie.
You'd have to prise me away from it if it was ever released.

Well, okay, I guess not that one.

OT: Not "HD" so much, but I would love to see Final Fantasy XII International, Okami, Journey, and the Kingdom Hearts franchise brought to the Vita.
