The words 'Mountains' and 'Molehills' comes to mind when reading this thread. :p

OT: Well, If Russ is fine with it, then so am I. I admit, I'm going to miss his stuff on here, but I wish him good luck!

This is a very bizarre case of passive aggressiveness that is truly derailing the initial point. If you read a lot of comments made in this small thread, you'd see that many aren't aware of his departure. I personally feel that this community should be talking about it more, seeing it's a rather large event. Yes, while there already is a piece dedicated to this, you and I are both aware of the buzz large events engulf members here. The mouse who has dubbed itself to be my roommate has made more noise the past few days (he's pretty quiet by the way) than Russ Pitt's perceived abrupt departure. For me, this is an Escapist taboo. An article about piracy will most assuredly spawn about 100 thread topics similar.

The vast majority of The Escapist's audience neither knows nor cares who Russ is or what he does. Or any of us on staff, really. They know Yahtzee and Bob and Jim, maybe, but they don't really care about the people behind the scenes. That's nothing personal, it's simply the nature of the beast. Most of what we do here is invisible.

The fact that you not only know who Russ is, but understand the impact he had on the site over the past five years, makes you rather unusual amongst your forum brethren. That's why there hasn't been more of an uproar.

When put that way, it makes more sense. While the reasoning is screwy, which is no one's fault except maybe Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian, I never even thought about it in that manner.

Also, did you just call yourself and fellow staffmates Net Ninjas?

So... I'm the only one waiting for the weekly Escapist podcasts?
I surely hope not. I love hearing the editors chat over what happened during the week and answer viewer questions. It really brightens up my day.

Well, we have been known to disappear in a flurry of cherry blossoms every now and again. :)

To those of you saying that you appreciate us staff folks...you really have no idea how much we appreciate the kind words. It means a lot to those of us here in the trenches, it really does.

...sooo, does it say something bad about me that the first thing I thought was 'So, from Pitts to Butts, huh?'.

Invisible maybe, but essential. Like the invisible blade from Soul Calibur or the bricks holding up my house. I may not be able to thank every brick individually because I don't know their names (and a brick will always lie to you when you ask it it's name, they're the secret agents of the building world), but their effort is appreciated nonetheless.

I will however always take the time out to thank the invisible blade. That thing was the coolest.

Ah, I detect the unmistakable whiff of truth about your statement.

Hhmm. I wonder if that takes us back to my original statement?
