Imperial Guard. Ratlings specifically.Iwata said:With the announced release of a Warhammer 40.000 MMO, the upcoming "Space Marine" 3rd person action game, and the success of the Dawn of War franchise, I thought it'd be interesting to see which race has the most love from the gaming crowd.
It doesn't matter if you play the tabletop wargame, the computer games, or if you just like the background, throw in your opinion, and let us know who you love and why.
My choice is the Imperium. It's very hard for me to select a specific branch within the Imperium, as it has been my faction of choice for nearly two decades. Since I started playing in 1992, I played with Blood Angels, and I still have them today, but the Imperial Guard, an army I started in the early 2000's, has gained my love and respect due to some stellar performances on the tabletop. I even have an aquila tattoo!
But ultimately I have to go with the faction that started it all for me. The Blood Angels. I absolutely love their background. A chapter that idolizes physical perfection and aesthetics, but which suffers from an internal flaw bigger than even some Traitor Chapters. The Red Thirst, that psychic echo of Sanguinius' brutal death which reduces a Blood Angel to a blood-craving beast.
Their recent retcon upon the re-release of Space Hulk was retarted (95% of the chapter died fighting the Tyranids?! And no-one knew that until now... uh...), but the just-released COdex brings them back to their former glory, and then some.
So, yeah. I'm a Son of Sanguinius first, and a Guardsman second. Be that as it may, my choice is the Imperium.
So that means in your thinking, in the end of it all, the only race left will be the Tyranids?Iwata said:And then of course there are the two theories, each worse than the last:Fenra said:Back when I started the tabletop game it was space wolves all the way, loved thier look and the fact that they opperated almost indipendantly from the rest of the imperium, functioning as packs in a very tribal way, just loved thier backstory.
Ever since DoW2 tho I've been drawn to the tyranids mainly because the idea of them fascinates me, consuming worlds for some unknown purpose, adding the dna and resources to thier own constantly evolving, they might not be as in depth history or personality wise as the rest of the 40k universe but like I said, just fascinating to me. not to mention 40 foot aliens with blade sharp claws kick ass![]()
Theory 1- The three Hive Fleets that wrecked everyone's shit so far and have only been beaten back at great cost are just little tiny tendrils of a much-greater force to follow and nomnom everyone, or;
Theory 2- The sudden emergence of the Tyranids en masse means that, like wild animals in a forest fire, they are actually running away from something...
Take your pick. We're all fucked either way.
Exactly the same with me, I feel i have a slightly closer connection the the Ravens because of the series.RollForInitiative said:I'm a big fan of the Space Marines myself, partly for visual style and partly because I like working with smaller, tougher groups of units. As for a specific chapter, I couldn't rightly say. I suppose I have some extra love for the Blood Ravens because of the Dawn of War titles.
That would be the Alpha Legioncaptainfluoxetine said:Having read most of the Horus Heresy series I really like the marines now. Always thought they were too 2D before but that series humanises them really well.
And to anyone whos a TOTAL nerd. What was the name of the legion which turned traitor cos they believed the only way to end the civil war was to win a decicise victory and then let chaos collapse on itself? I cant for the life of me rememebr.
I'm wondering which one came first. One of those races were based off of the other. They almost have to be.NinjaTigerXIII said:I'd have to go with the nids. Is is just me or do the Tyranids reminds you of the zerg?
