I can't give an order either, but my top 5 would be:
Secret of Mana (I would probably make this number 1)
Chrono Trigger/Cross (I cheated and listed two)
Final Fantasy 6 (no, not 7. 6. that's right, 6.)
Super Metroid
and Halo
Of course, because some of these games are SNES games, the OST really isn't that great compared to the OST of modern games, but I love them because they have the best melodies that when orchestrated just makes me all happy inside.

Silent Hill 2 has the most chilling sounds I've ever experienced. It's genuinely unsettling, particularly as a backdrop to the game. I can't say I've heard it outside of it, though, so I can't say how it holds up without the atmosphere of the town.
SotC and FF are just fantastic OSTs, practically flawless in my opinion. It's possibly just nostalgia from the first time I played them (particularly IX), but VI and SotC were relatively recent experiences for me and they still shook me.
Persona 3 FES and 4 have very "cool" soundtracks. The mixture of hip hop with dark moody and even some extremely melodic tracks makes it particularly unique to me. The piano melody played over the menu of FES really touched me when I first put the game in and the themes in the story didn't disappoint: despite only playing it last year when I was 18, the ending still hit me like a brick wall, as it was very poignant.
My apologies if any of that came off sounding pretentious but I thought I would add to my post instead of merely throwing up a list.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It has epically re-recorded versions of most everything that was awesome about Nintendo,
plus that sweet Latin chorus. Hard to top that.

FFX probably grabs everyone's attention because they shoved "Otherworld" at the beginning and everyone who'd been a fan from the early days had their minds blown when they introduced not a hint (in other songs) but a full on blast of electric guitar. I'd have to go with the Piano Collections for the Final Fantasy series, particularly FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX, FFX.
I've seen a few people mention Silent Hill, so I think I'll have to check that out.
