I've got all Quentin Tarantino, Stanley Kubrick, Ethan and Joel Coen, Peter Jackson, Sam Peckinpah, Jim Jarmusch, Terry Gilliam and Ridley Scott movies in my library.
Working on completing my Sergio Leone collection, I've got almost all of the man's movies bar some stuff you can only find on VHS or imported from Italy.

Why I went so far to get this many films from these guys? Well it's not that I said to myself "I want every single one of [enter any director here]'s movies!", it's just that I love owning movies because I love watching movies (almost always more than once.) And in my pursuit to own movies these guys have just been the first ones I've completed a collection by, mostly because their movies are some of my favourites and therefore I hunt them up first.

I have most of the big hitters, I'm not obsessive about it, but I do like having the whole collection of movies from a fave director and following the evolution. But I don't mind spending a few bux on Honky Tonk Man or White Squall if it means I have an entire range. The ones I am a little proud of is the generally lesser known stuff like Gilliam, Besson, Jeunet, Tarkovsky and Sokurov. I just like having a wide selection in my collection.
An important question for those with collections bordering on quarter digits is how do you organize it? Year, Director or Genre?

This reminds me I must get Piranha 2: the spawning.

I use a pseudo-alphabetic system that no-one but me could really understand. For example Planet Terror and Death Proof are under 'G', as in 'Grindhouse'. If I've got a larger collection of movies from a single director I just put all of the movies (sorted by year) under the name of the director. Keep in mind though that this system spans several storage-spaces so it's almost impossible for anyone but me to find anything, but it works so I'm happy.

Ya I stopped trying to organize my collection into some kind of human sense a long time ago. Now some movies are grouped together by director. I have all the pixar movies clumped together and I have Apocalypse Now beside Platoon beside Full Metal Jacket beside The Deer Hunter.

No, I just have lots of movies by different people.

Probably close to an entire filmography for some directors though.
