And for me: Dragons.

Elder Krayt Dragon, Knights of the old republic, just prior to being exploded ten thousand times over.
EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it, that was from
Star Wars Galaxies, wasn't it?
As for me, I've never seen an orc, ork (ugh), elf, or goblin do anything that can't be done just as well or better by a red-blooded human (or terran, as the case may be). A human struck the killing blow against Sauron (what happened afterwards is not to be mentioned); a...whatever the lesser Ainur were called that looked like a human slew the balrog of Moria; humans crushed the tyranids, put the zerg into a stalemate, and held back the Yuzhang Vong; A human ship was responsible for one of the few recorded reaper fatalities; humans stopped the Scrin invasion and destroyed the final Gravemind; and a single human being toppled two different galaxy-spanning empires, left a trail of bodies fifty miles long in his wake, and then left the known galaxy to throw down with an entire species made up entirely of the most powerful beings in existence (and some say, emerged alive in the aftermath. Props to anyone who knowss who I'm talking about).
They might be imperfect and vulnerable to corruption, but human beings fight like demons, work like horses, and are loyal like dogs. Live fast, die young, and carry a very big stick, I say.
Or, to quote some guy from some forum somewhere:
"We poison our air and water to weed out the weak! We set off fission bombs in our only biosphere!
We nailed our God to a stick! Don't fuck with the human race!"
