For me, it involves a little Green power ring, Hal Jordan, the brightest day and the blackest night..
If it were real, hell yeah power ring. Maybe not a green one though. My blind optimism seems more in line for a blue one.
Too bad blues have almost no powers without a green lantern around. As for which group I would like to belong too...tough call. It would need to be a scenario where I have awesome power, but a luxurious life with no real problems. Most the groups that come to mind with that criteria are evil. As a general rule in fiction, the more awesome powers the protagonist has, the more awesome the antagonist is. Purely by joining a super powered hero group I put myself in mortal danger.
If I join the X-Men for example...I would probably date a robot, get stabbed by Wolverine, come back from the dead, become a vampire, suddenly reveal I am a skrull, get killed by the real me, then the real me gets killed by Phoenix, then I come back as someone who doesn't want to be a hero, then I get dragged back into the hero life, go insane, have a talk with Spiderman, and get put on meds, then an emergency would come up requiring me to go without my meds, we would get attacked by a world-conquering inter-stellar entity, I would be forced to choose between the fate of my alternate reality child raised in the far future by my other alternate reality child who is also in the future and some arbitrary group of innocent people I don't know, then I would suddely find out I was a samurai in ancient Japan, then I would finally find out I am not a mutant at all and my body is really the home for thousands of ghosts of Celtic warriors.
So I say to you sir: Meh. I am better off where I am.
