Which fictional reality?

So, I've had quite a bit of time to think lately, having broken my arm, I hadn't been able to go to work until quite recently, whilst I was homebound and extremely bored, I got to thinking, just how dull our life CAN be, and just wondered Escapists, if there was one fictional reality that you could turn our reality into, what would it be? and for what reasons?

For me, it would easily be Pokemon, for so many reasons that I just don't have the time or patience to list them all.

I think many people would probably go for Pokemon and have many reasons themselves that they will surely explain if they post.

Who wouldn't want something like a little Growlithe following them around?!

Considering we just had this thread and half of the posters there wanted to live in that particular monstrosity of a world for inexplicable reasons, this is a reasonable prediction.

Seriously, while the things are just cards or a 32 bit digital figure its understandable to overlook the problems, but what exactly is so appealing about beating the crap out of animals in order to enslave them into fighting other animals that you would want to do it in person?

Personally, give me the universe as described by Peter F. Hamilton in his "Night's Dawn" trilogy, preferably a bit after the semi-covert war in the books is dealt with. Very high technology federation of planets with extremely interesting career prospects in all levels of society. The clincher is that 90% of what I'd need to learn to catch up on what I'd missed having an education in that place can be flashed into memory within a few days, requiring only some practice to put that knowledge to use.

Ah you see, I omitted the fact that I'd like the Pokemon reality, bar the animals beating the crap out of each other, that wouldn't be right aha.

Also, yours sounds pretty awesome!
...And I was not aware that we've recently had this topic, my bad!

Hmm, whilst Kanto sounds an interesting place to live, I'd personally have to go with the fictional world of the RomCom. Everything's funny, and everyone ends up in a happy relationship!

Depends entirely on what I would get to be.

If I could have/choose superpowers in the Marvel or DC setting I would possibly choose one of those, as an example. If I couldn't have superpowers that setting would be off limits.

Well I did not see that coming as a choice! But I like it!

Everybody is happy!

I'd have to say El Goonish Shive [http://www.egscomics.com]. Everyone has inherent access to magic, "Anime Style Martial Arts" is a thing, and if you're lucky, you might encounter a TF Gun!

As a fully fledged brony I of course am going to say Equestria. Reasons, because well it just seems amazing.

Question, Is it just me or is the entire world being ported? If only me, then I'd have to say equestria. (I'm actually surprised OP didint predict that as the one most would say) If the entire world is coming with me, then minecraft. Think of the accomplishments we could make!

While this may sound crazy, I chose Westeros from A Song of Ice and Fire. I have a thing for seemingly dark worlds filled with war and ancient evil.
The thing people forget about high fantasy settings is that pretty much none of the major cities have adequate waste disposal systems. There would be shit EVERYWHERE. Think London at the height of the cholera epidemics. Facing off against ancient evil sounds like fun, but in reality its far more likely that you die of dysentery, pox or fever (remember, no penicillin) than at the hands of a white walker.

I considered and rejected Ankh Morpork for similar reasons. I would choose to fast forward the Temeraire universe to present day, giving us both sanitation and dragons, the best of both worlds.

I always thought the Pokemon universe would suck to live in. Not because of the moral points people have brought up but because:

Ash is almost killed in the first episode by Sparrows...SPARROWS!!! These are birds that we have in real life for crying out loud, what happens when a Charizard gets rabbies?!? The horror...the horror...

Anyway, I would vote the "Scott Pilgrim Versus The World" universe. While having to fight every evil-ex for the love of your lady friend (especially if she's...promiscuous) would suck, it seems like a great example of the real world mixed with video game rules.

Pokemon is awesome. I usually only choose this one. I mean the Freelancer universe if awesome to play in but I don't think I have the real life piloting skills to go toe to toe with a Rogue.

This one:

One day, the poster known as "The Thinker", on the Escapist forums, was given god-power without losing his awesome personality. This process was irreversible.

There's a few I wouldn't mind living in. Bioshock would be my first, provided they fixed that problem with the plasmids that causes them to drive you crazy. Fallout would be pretty good too, provided I had a decent gun, good armour and someone to back me up. Next I'd say the Elder Scrolls. Being a mage in Tamriel would be awesome, going by the new spells that were put in Skyrim. Last I'd say the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Hopping from planet to planet with an electronic book that explains everything in Stephen Fry's voice. What's not to like?
