Which franchise did Hollywood ruin more? Twilight or Eragon?

Eragon. It was the only one I saw and read and therefore, cared about. They tore the book to shreds in that movie. It was like they read three or four chapters, said fuck it and got the rest of the story from an ADD dyslexic who skimmed the book once.
A thousand times this. I might like it if they tried out Eldest, but they'd have to do a huugee overhaul on the actors, writers, etc.

Anyone know when the fourth book comes out?

While we're on the subject, did anyone else thing Bella looked like she was going to cream in every scene? She wouldn't stop nibbling on her bottom lip, and it looked like she was getting ready to tear her clothes off over something as small as a glass of water that Edward sneezed on.
That seems to be the underlying tone of that softcore blue balls "saga".

Eragon, by a long shot. For Twilight to be more "ruined" by the movie would imply that Twilight started with something that was worth ruining. There was no way to salvage that garbage.

And Eragon was comically brilliant, however unintentionally. The instant that guy said "I suffer without my stone," I couldn't stop laughing.

Well I thought the Eragon movie was pretty good, but then again I've never read the books so I don't really have anything to compare it to.
Anyway as bad as Hollywood is for bastardizing, I still maintain the opinion the no one bastardizes a franchise more than it's fans.

Yeah, but that was the point of Bella's character. The book, and by extension, the film is basically soft-porn written for pre-teen girls to insert themselves into Bella's shoes. She is THE definition of a Mary Sue, and anyone who tells you otherwise deserves a repeal on their right to free speech.

Huh? Twilight was "good" in book format? You mean it did'nt have "sparkling" vampires and countless "I love you, but I'm dangerous" moments? Oh wait... it did? Than I guess there was nothing for Hollywood to ruin to begin with.
You know, I thought so too, but my roommate read it, and told me it was very well written. And since I don't really think he's your average, dumb, vampire fanboy (he actually approached the book with a lot of skepticism too [his girlfriend wanted him to read it]), I decide to call it a good book; even though I hate the thought of glittering vampires.

Oh WOW!!! Way to go start a Twilight Flame war, but on topic, Eragon, I saw Eragon, but I didn't see Twilight, and I imagine that there is nothing on this earth that could match the epic levels of fail associated with it.
Side Note: I knew the movie was Epic Fail, and I hadn't even read the book yet.

Eragon by far. Even if I gave a shit about Twilight, it wouldn't change anything. The books are some of my all time favorite reads, and Hollywood BUTCHERED them!!! They can't even make a sequel without further desecration!!

Needless to say, I'm pissed. *Grumbles and starts reading*

EDIT:

There was nothing to ruin in Twilight.

It's like Hollywood trashed a dump when they made Twilight.
But it's like Hollywood trashed a holy temple when they made Eragon.
Roughly this.

Personally, this thread can be seen as a bit of a waste of time. For you see, it's nearly impossible to ruin something that was crap from the get-go.

Eragon, in addition to the obvious copying a more familiar story involving Wookies and X-wings, features a protagonist completely unlikable and a sense of morality that frankly rivals Richard Rahl in how terrifying it is. While especially apparent in the third book, Eragon's unsympathetic nature was still clear to me by the end of the first book, where I was wondering when Saphira would realize how whiny he was and eat him before joining up with Murtagh.

Twilight... Good GOD Twilight. Never in my life have I encountered a main protagonist and romantic counterpart who disgusted me so much. That's right, Bella and Edward made Eragon seem LIKABLE and developed in comparison. Bella's complete and utter lack of personality, in addition to the fact that she goes into her situation bitching about everything, made me wish that the vampires in Twilight ate her. But no, instead I get emo vampires the likes of which are far worse than anything made by Anne Rice, the woman who made vampires stop being threatening. Congratulations Stephanie Myer, you've taken a monster that started out threatening, became pathetic and angsty, and made it into something that while blessed with pure awesome and having apparently no downside aside from the sparkling, feel the need to whine and complain about each and every thing that happens to them. I suppose congratulations are in order, for you almost have to try to suck that hard.

So yeah, er, in my opinion, Hollywood can't fix what was broken from the get-go.

John Freeman, by squirrelking, was a much better book/movie than Twilight, and squirrelking is probably retarded.

I am officially revoking your roommate's Man Card. The people who enjoyed this book know nothing about the vampire archetype, and no one more so than Stephanie Meyer. She admittedly has only read "a very few" vampire stories before "writing" her "novels."

Eragon, simply because there was something TO ruin. You could splice ET for the Atari with Alone in the Dark: Inferno into some hideous mutant game and it would STILL compare favorably to Twilight.

EDIT: I DO thank Twilight for something and I would like to take this time TO thank it.

Thank you Twilight, before you I was CONVINCED there couldn't be a worse Narrative than Naruto or Gundam SEED Destiny, before you I was convinced all Fanfiction was utter shit that could never compare to real books, before you I didn't think mythology could be so gutted and bastardized that it would shake me to my core.

So thank you Twilight, thank you for ETERNALY standing as a giant crock of shit that not only makes me feel better about my own writing but gives me a big book of DON'TS!
I couldn't agree with you more. As someone studying toward degrees in Rhetoric and Composition I was personally offended to see this series exist. Let alone be hailed and awarded as it has been.

It's not a flame war until someone posts a picture of that pretty boy vampire. That's when the bloodshed commences :)

I already did when he took his little sisters to see the Hannah Montana movie. No amount of Axe Body Spray will help him get it back now...

I didn't mind the eragon book too much... Yeah, it was bad.. they made too many omissions, and mistakes.. but it wasn't that bad of a movie, ignoring its source material... Sort of like Dreamcatcher... Didn't see Twilight...

But I'm sure there are much worse movies out there... Max Payne, I'm looking in your Direction.

I wasn't even a forlorn fan of the game and I hated that piece of gutter trash movie

He couldn't get it back if he freebased the entire Die Hard franchise before fist-fighting a bear. He will be informed of his new standing by mail in 2-4 weeks, but in the mean time feel free to kick him square in the testicles, which he will no longer be needing.

I would but I can't. He's on tour with Prince.
