Most realistic would be Armed Assault, or Operation Flashpoint. Only found in vehicle mounts, selectable rate of fire up to 4,000rpm, damage per round scales as it should for 7.62x51 NATO, accuracy is realistic.

Most fun, for me, was the M134s mounted on the Blackhawks in BF2.

it is a military deployed heavy weapon rivited to the floor. not something you carry.

but it cuts through the undead like molten steel through melty butter.
Yeah, L4D was the first game to have static turrets.

;x

Anyway, the Serious Sam one was pretty silly.
CoD4 had a single static Minigun turret in Singleplayer, and I think it came first.
I'm sorry, I thought the " ;x " implied that I was kidding.
Oh, I'm sorry. I've never seen that. Looking back, however, I can see the sarcasm in what you said, it just went over my head. My bad.

Hmm, I don't know if a game has ever done a minigun right, last time I read the specs of one they could fire 3000 .50calibre rounds per minute. If you've seen a video of a real minigun fired it looks like a laser beam of bright light streaming from the end of the barrels, and anything it touches explodes. Maybe they haven't been done right yet for a reason? :D
(The minigun I'm speaking of was mounted on a helicopter, pretty sure handheld variants don't exist - I'm likely wrong because some nut has probably done it).

But I'd have to say that Saints Row 2 definitely did it WRONG, that minigun is weak as hell...
Finally, someone understands. Although TF2's minigun is the most fun, a real one would shoot something equivalent to 70 Chuck Norris'/second. Nothing could stand up to it in real life.

Armed Assault for the WIN! Pwned everything! Especially with ACE mod in the loach. Best ... minigun ... EVER! Actually, there were two, but that only makes it twice as awesome. Not to mention that it looked just like a real minigun (tracers that is). Awesome ... pure awesome.

The most realistic one probably would be the one is Resident Evil 5 just because it's the only one that shows where you keep all the ammo (instead of the bullets comin out of your ass, almost literally) and also is how inaccurate it should be. Oh and that it's suppose to be a almost one-hit kill because IT FIRES LARGE ROUNDS. It would leave at least a baseball size hole in you... maybe a lil exaggerated there but you get my point. As for fun, I'd say when you rip off a turret in Halo 3 as MC and go serious sam on the brute's asses. Nothing more satisfying with a minigun in the hands of the master!

The one on the front of the A-10 warthog.
my favorite plane.

i love that gun
The A-10's gattling is awesome, but it isn't a minigun. I'm gonna have to go with either COD4 or L4D.

Miniguns are far more accurate than any videogame depicts them to be.

That's not a minigun... by definition, a minigun is a modified turret that can be carried by hand (although obviously it is difficult to do this).

The Fallout 3 minigun is probably the most realistic, since it slows you down and weighs like 25 pounds. None of the F3 miniguns are very effective though, unless you count the laser minigun and its better version.

For fun minigun I would have to mention Brute Force, a very obscure game where you can dual wield miniguns.

youve all forgotten battlefield 2, which has 2 miniguns.

the first weaker one is on the side of the american transport helicopterdoes a fair amount of damage but is highly innacurate.

the other is on the attack helicopters and is hellishly dangerous to infantry and light-medium armoured vehicles, both fun (if your the gunner) and accurate to the fact if you point and click, it will probably die (unless its a tank).

i wouldnt agree with res 5 for realism, as chaingun are way too heavy for 1 person to carry and operate. requiring a car battery to run, the thousands of rounds of ammo needed for it and the kick of a mule that would put anyone firmly on the ground wondering why the hell did they even try.

*edit*: a link for a 'smaller' minigun plus characteristics if you still think a person could carry one

No... no it wasn't....
I can remember Halo and Half-Life having turrets that were fixed. Both probably aren't the first, but I like busting balls with facts.

Anyway, on topic....
I would say CoD4 having the best minigun. Ever.
