Which game deserves our neverending ire for making QTEs in vogue?

I understand Shenmue was the first game to use them, but they didn't start showing up immediately after that in virtually every game. So which game was it that everyone else looked at and decided they had to include QTEs in their game too? God of War?

No game deserves never-ending ire; hate is a waste of time and energy. Anyway, its not a good game's fault that bad games tried to mimic them. If anything, blame the developers of medicocre games that make QTEs from a game design fad to something bothersome.

QTEs are always something bothersome. They're only good if that's the whole game (DDR, Rock Band, etc).

As i remember Wet had plenty of QTEs which resulted in death when failed. Most annoying thing about that was that the entire final "Boss Fight" was made up of them. Other than that i can't remember many games where they were an integral part of gameplay. Anyway you can't really blame a single game on overuse of QTEs just lazy developers.
