My depth perception is fine, you're the one who admitted they can't platform in regular games. But keep on with the ad hominem argument, that'll give you more credibility.
Oh and pro-tip: When something works fine, letting it continue to work fine isn't really a benefit. It's just adding an unnecessary price to do the same thing with a gimmick.
Right, I'm going to stop you right there, you're coming off as a massive Fan Hater [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FanHater] here. I'm not going to force you to like 3D, that's perfectly fine with me, but would you mind leaving this thread to those who are interested in the 3D-gaming concept, and allow us to discuss the topic without being interrupted?
How am I being a fan hater? I'm honestly asking for some explanation here. I want to know what it adds to gaming, I want to know why it's not just a shitty gimmick. Yet all I'm getting is an ad hominem attack which makes me think there's nothing there beyond a bunch of people who just want to hop onto the newest gadget because it's new and shiny.
People like 3D because its 3D. It adds graphical depth to the game, so long as you don't get headaches from it (which, admittedly, some people do get). Having 3D gives a new element to the graphics. Its a bit like the difference between the PS2 and the PS3, graphically speaking. Sure, gameplay wise there may not be any difference with the controllers from the PS2 and the PS3, but hey, prettier graphics!

In the same way, people like 3D for the pure and simple reason that its a little bit prettier than 2D due to the sense of depth that it creates. To say that a visual enhancement is a gimmick is like saying that next-gen graphics is a gimmick.
So no, it adds nothing to a game. It is just HEY LOOK SHINY NEW GADGET TO PLAY WITH. Thank you for actually answering my question. I will politely disagree with you on the difference between 3D and non 3D being the same as PS2 and PS3 however.
Picture this, you jump off a cliff-side in a car in full 3D with depth perception. Do you understand? You'll get vertigo just looking at it, that's awesome.

Edit: Wait, isn't calling "ad hominem" an "ad hominem"?

The only thing that I am worried about with 3D gaming is that some developers will just use it as a gimmick for their game and nothing more. I don't want to see gimmicks. I want to see these innovations help get people more immersed into the game.

I have to agree with LordNue. I personally dislike how everything nowadays HAS to include the 3D gimmick. Don't get me wrong, I agree that some games and films may benefit with it. Point going to Mirror's Edge and rail-shooter games for sure, but why does everyone have to jump on the bandwagon?

I may just be a bit biased against 3D because of the glasses. I just got laser eye surgery to get rid of glasses so I can see clearly for the first time in over 20 years... and now people want me to wear glasses just to watch their films or play their games.

None, apparently I'm in the minority of people who aren't completely incompetent with depth perception these days, and 3D just seems pointlessly expensive and gimmicky for my tastes on top of making me nauseous, headachy and forcing me to wear retarded glasses.
Yeah, there's definitely something wrong with you there. Most people aren't given any troubles by 3D, those that are have visual problems.

There's also something wrong with your thought process as you're adding nothing of value to the thread.
ACtually studies have shown that prolonged exposure to 3D can cause severe migraines and nausea, not just people with depth perception issues.

Insulting people to defend your thread is low. Do you know why people have toruble seeing? You're near sighted because your eyes grow too short. You're far sighted because your eyes are too long. You have any idea how many people have "Perfect" eyes with no defects at all? A minority.

Though 3D isn't really my thing (my eyes run/cry when watching 3D films) Mirror's Edge would be awesome, and I am interested to see it work for Black Ops and Killzone 3.
