You see, that's a smart move, something I should have done. What do I have to show for my hours of agony?

"Resident Evil 5 - 1000g" on my gamertag.

I'd rather have my controller back. And my sanity.

Sometimes I wonder why I even care about achievements.
I wonder the same thing about achievements, then I continue to try to get them. I think they put them in games to be used the same way a carrot tied to the head of a horse would be used. A way to artificially lengthen a game.
The sad part is that it actually works. I'm living proof of that. I have tried loosening up on the whole achievment thing, and I have, to an extent.
I think the only game that I have ever gotten all of the achievements for is Fallout 3 (including the DLC) but they still draw me back to games I wouldn't necessarily replay otherwise.

This is pretty much explained in the title, but I figured I'd start with something simple for my first thread. It seemed like a good topic and I'm interested in the replies.

For me:
Super Mario 3: I don't know why but I have never been able to get past the 3rd world in this game, constantly sending Mario to his death starts to frustrate me, and the little jingle that plays when he dies becomes almost like taunting laughter
Enchanted Arms: It wasn't even a difficult game, the severe tediousness of the game and the way it was presented just made me angry and made it difficult to play
Street Fighter (All of them): This really goes for about 95% of fighting games, eventually either the difficulty becomes such that I cannot beat the enemies and wind up dying repeatedly. Or I get some friends together it ends with most of us giving up because the one guy who just presses one button repeatedly just wins ( I have seriously seen this happen)

Those are the games that frustrate me most, what are your guys? Also you don't have to give as much explanation as I did, just in a verbose mood tonight.

Edit: Fable II should be added to the list, it may have been my copy or my 360, but that game was absolute shit, there is now a total of 4 areas in the game where my character cannot go without causing the game to die behind the loading screen or right after the loading screen. As such I can't complete the main quest, and the disk is collecting dust.
Demon's Soul, but god I love it, soooo much.
Also, Enchanted Arms isn't that bad. Sure I had trouble playing it on an analogue tv, but now I have a large HD tv, I don't have any issues with the battlefield camera. It's an interesting game with an interesting plot, and I'm a sucker for JRPG's, so I have no complaints.
One of the games that frustrated me severely (as awesome as it was) was Shadow Of the Colossus. The framerate is so awful that i almost gave up playing a few times, but the world just drew me in so much I had to finish it ( I just had to).

I'm still ashamed to this day, and now treat my controllers like babies.

What in RE5 made you break a controller? If you don't mind me asking, I just don't see it, I mean it had it's moments but nothing really worthy of a full out controller smash.

That being said I have a friend who destroyed an N64 controller during a marathon session of mario kart 64
Ah yes, Mario Kart Syndrome will do that.

As for RE5, I played the entire game on Professional. None of my friends had Live and the game. So I had to play the entire thing with AI Sheva. On Professional.

I thought I was a patient person, but re-doing a checkpoint for the 100th time due to her inability to survive for more then 3 seconds really got on my nerves.

Hahaha, you poor soul. It's literally impossible to finish the game without another Human player, as the AI is just beyond retarded (as I've stated any times).

Two spring to mind...

Halo 2: Repelling the Covenant boarding parties on the Cairo Station level, on Legendary. Never could beat it, finished the game on Heroic, which is a pisser because that first level difficulty spike is supposed to be the hardest part of the game.

Goldeneye 007: Control Center level on 007 difficulty, the protect Natalya objective. Couldn't beat this either, after 10 years I still get wound up thinking about it, it's made me dread any form of escort mission.

I like to think I'm patient and am willing to persevere when the going get tough (I've beat Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins on PSP), but these two sections are the closest I've ever come to dashing the pad against a wall in rage then punting the console across the room.

I love both these games and put in a lot of frustrating hours trying to pass these two sections, but they broke me.

Right now GTA IV, it's not exactly hard but the driving is beyond terrible, I almost wanted to throw my controller after failing the same chase mission 3 times in a row because my car flipped and went spinning for the tiniest collisions.

none of my games specifically irritate me (excluding prototype because I lost 600Gamerscore cause my brother recovered but that's my fault) but they all have a bit habit of ruining my mood. ESPECIALLY COD:MW2, I go on it and get screamed abuse at by everyone because of my high pitched voice (I've been going these past TWO YEARS thinkin it'd never break, turns out if I slow down my talking I sound deeper cause i talk at the speed of light =L)

COD4, by a longshot.

Mainly due to my being shit at it, host advantage, lag and martyrdom.

Single player: any GTA game, with thier crazy difficulty spikes (though 4 was pretty easy)

I suppose I'm a living god then, since I somehow managed to use my ridiculous skills sheer luck to do it.

But seriously, I did beat it, and through luck alone. I still have nightmares about it...*shudders*

Of course, having infinite ammo for the magnum and rocket launcher helps. ;)
Still... My hat's off to you. If you hit the dying status and she's nowhere near you, you're fucked.
I could not be bothered to do it without a friend.

If you're playing on Ps3, just modulate your voice. I agree with you about MW2 though, but manly because everyone i encounter in that game online who has a mic is just a right royal fucking tosser (at least in australia anyway).

It takes her a while to process things, so she stands there and drools for a bit while the cogs in her brain turn and finally give her the thought "Holy shit he's dying I should help"
Of course then she has to remember where she put the damn first aid spray and/or herbs. Resulting in your demise

I never had a problem with Zelda for the gbc, Tomb Raider was the cause of the untimely demise of my cousin's gameboy thought, and was it ever hilarious to watch.
