Which game(s) deserve to be called the best in its genre?

I don't think there are many to be named because of varying oppnions but to start off I think that the Gran Turismo series is the best i the the racing sim genre hands down. I'd argue God of War for its wide popularity even as a hack and slash game (even though other arguably "better" hack and slash games are available) in a genre that didn't garner much atention in the past (thats how I saw it). So, any nominees fellow escapists?

I fall for Sins of a Solar Empire for best RTS. Simple AND epic.
Hmm... For racing, my vote goes for F-Zero GX (and before people say it, I haven't played all that many racing games so...).

Armored Core series=Best Mech battle game
Tekken series=Best fighting series(because fuck you street fighter)
Burnout=Best racing series
Tales series=Best JRpg series? I think its more consistent than FF.
Elder Scrolls=Best RPG series
Halo=Best shooter series
Silent Hill series=Best horror
Heavy Rain=Best of whatever it is because its the only one

Also, wtf would you classify SotC under? Action adventure? Either way, its the best of its kind too.

I say Marvel vs Capcom 3 will be the best arcade-style fighting game, but for now, that spot goes to Super Street Fighter 4
Mario Kart for best unrealistic racing game
Gran Turismo for racing sim
Team Fortress 2 for war-themed hat simulators
I'm going to wait for Black Ops before making judgement on multiplayer-focused FPS, but for now I say Bad Company 2
Zelda for bes adventure games
God of War for best hack 'n slash

The proplem is that the lines between genres get more and more blurred, so making lists like this will get harder to make, because games will become harder to classify.
