I say the Half Life series will make excellent movies, and Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare would make for a beyond excellent HBO mini-series.
Hugh Laurie as Gordon Freeman!!! That would be awesome! Although it would be a challenge to characterize a person who doesn't speak.

A Castlevania movie would be great if they did it like Brotherhood Of The Wolf. You know, like a period piece.

Also, a Force Unleashed movie might be do-able, or a KOTOR movie even.

blatently Mass Effect, although if you play the story straight through without deviating it pretty much is a movie

None that I can think of, out of the box. There are some games you could develop into movies, but they'd need a real overhaul. What makes a good game storyline is different to what makes a good film storyline. A few games have a suitable storyline for a film, but none that I can think of have the character relationships needed to make a good film.

Half-Life does have one subtle relationship (for a game), but in film terms it's a bit flat. The story would need a lot of work. I actually think the original Half-Life would make a better film than any of the Half-Life 2 games, with a bit of spit and polish.

If I had to pick one game to develop into a film, I'd choose X-Com. I'd get James Cameron to direct it, based on his work on Aliens.

The green hat and fairy thing would come across a little silly on screen.

Knights of the Old Republic(The first one). George Lucas not having anything to do with it though.
I second that. A great story that could easily been made into an epic and compelling movie (or even trilogy), as long as the powers that be kept Lucas' smelly hands off it.
We are, sadly, left to dream...

I think I remember something about a Deus Ex movie getting started / cancelled a few years ago. That would've been perfect for a game to movie type thing. And Assassin's Creed would probably be really good too.

I seriously think that, as unique as Half-Life is with its narrative, it could translate well in to a film. But only if it was done in a Danny Boyle-esque style.

Also, I'm really looking forward to the Warcraft movie.

well i did hear that they are doing a halo move but it will be real-life and not CGI, which will not be as good
The ads done leading up to Halo 3's release weren't half bad. I have no idea what they cost, though; that I believe was what canceled the live-action Halo movie (too expensive).

They could probably pull it off using the CG that was done for the cutscenes in Halo Wars. Those were absolutely gorgeous.

There's a lot of room for a good story to be told in the Halo universe.

There was a Zelda TV series, started 1989(ish) and ended horribly quickly.

Deus Ex, first one.
Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption?
.....Playboy Mansion?
...........Sim Tower?

Might I point out, the games that have been made into movies, tend to do on the not so good side ref: Silent Hill, I mean, sure some games have good cinematics, but the reason we like games is because we play them. PLAY=GAME and WATCH=MOVIE, be careful about what you wish to combine...

If it were a good movie that did the games justice, I would say a Zelda game. ONLY if it was a stellar film that would do the games justice.

Heavenly Sword: you genuinely wouldn't have to change a thing.

Rather than being a "good", story the game simply has a plot that could be easily adapted into a movie while changing almost nothing. This means that rather than the "lost in translation", effect, taking general themes and characters from a game and using them for a vaguely related movie, you could actually follow the story and characterisation accurately while cutting out most of the fighting against rent-a-goons.

Now that sounds like movie of the year, the eerie atmosphere on the big screen, also The Darkness would be a good movie if u get the right director (Not Uwe Boll lol).

Bioshock is being made into a movie, though I believe production has currently been halted. I think it could be awesome, as long as they don't screw it up.

It seems like most movies based on games don't live up to expectations, though.

Man I think they should make a movie based on Shadow of the Collosus and then have it directed by a mastermind like...mhh.. let's say the guy from the Chun Li movie.

I can already smell the Oscar.
