Anything with a number greater than "2" behind them.
I was going to say something around these lines, and you said it better.

But among all the series that are losing quality with each iteration, there's one that didn't so much go downhill as jumped from a cliff: my beloved Gothic series. I even liked Gothic 3 with all its shortcomings, I mean, it was no Gothic 2, but it was alright in my book.

But Arcania is as far from a Gothic game as it could be; I mean, they managed to ditch everything that made the other games good (and I mean everything). It's even hard to understand why they bothered calling it "A Gothic Tale". After all, it's clearly aimed at people who have never played any of the first three games while managing to insult anyone who did play them.

Assassin's Creed.

Why? Because when the series started out it was a rejuvinating the flying squirrel jumpy offy buildings ridiculous funtimes of the 90's. Then it took two years before the sequel, which improved on the forumla in so, so many ways. Two years between sequels now is pretty special considering most publishers are only interested in franchises they can milk with a sequel a year.

... Then Brotherhood came out...
And it was more of the fucking same...
With game breaking glitches....

I mean it's more of the same that was excellent in AC2 and no less excellent in AC:B but it struck me as an awfully cynical cashgrab. Couldn't get rid of this overriding feeling through the entireity of the campaign that this was being released solely for money, otherwise they wouldn't have released it in the first place, and instead taken a couple of years and built a truly stellar sequel.

Here's to AC3 hopefully continuing the trend set between AC1 and 2.

Kingdom Hearts 2 is my favorite game of all time. But they're ruining it with all the card game bullshit. I hope KH3 will remove it and bring back the same loveable characters because the DS and PSP game are just shit with none of the familiar characters and combat. THAT'S ABOUT MOTHER ****ING CARDS... Sorry.
... Dude, did you even see Birth By Sleep? It's not a card battle game at all, you can mash basic attack until the cows come home, their calves leave, and then grow up into cows and come back home.

The term "Command Deck" refers to the special abilities like Strike Raid or Cure that you have equiped, each of which cooldown on their own.

I adored KH2 as much as you, but you have to admit being able to stick two Curagas into your menu so you can use one while the other recharges is better than how Cure is handled in KH2 (All your mana for one shot of the spell)

So, in closing, if you're going to call out a series call it out for LEGITIMATE reasons. Oh, and learn to spell or something. I went ahead and fixed your post for you, that'd be embarrising for someone 12 years old.

Oh, sorry for that wrong assumption. Guess that's just goold ol' American Egocentrism flaring up.

But I still have to disagree with your comparison. The Birth By Sleep deck system looks (And I confess that I haven't played the game despite REALLY wanting to) worlds better than the Chain of Memories basket of farts that was the card battle system.

Devil May Cry -.points to the newest one.- That's starting it
I'm surprised that I wasn't the first to say this.

"You can tell I'm hardcore because I smoke cigarettes like a 1950s actress and have the rippling physique of an Ethiopian adolescent."
Srsly? Have you never seen a picture of the Sex Pistols or The Clash? New Dante's style is punk. No two shits about it. To compare him to MCR is silly and childish. And his physique makes sense if you think about it (Being on his own since the death of his mother? Being tortured?).
I won't get into a flame war about it, but I think this article [http://agamersperspective.com/articles/dmc-fans-may-cry] correctly sums up my views on the new DmC trailer. It fits perfectly in the DMC universe.

OT: I would say Sonic, but after seeing Sonic Colors, I think there's still hope.
Thus, I think the winner of biggest downhill shitfest would have to go to Silent Hill.

For me, i'm going to have to say (And it really does break my heart to say) Kingdom Hearts. I Love the series and all small the stories, but I don't think Coded is going to stay in my favorites list. I'm giving Square the benefit of the doubt because thats the only game I have disliked so far from the franchise. (And yes, i still like Chain of Memories despite the card battle system)
Don't give up hope Xemnas. I'm sure that Coded's greatest weakness is the fact that it was adapted from a loving cell phone game. ^^ I'm sure 3D will be freaking awesome.

Kingdom Hearts 3 isn't making that urgent for me since, well, I don't exactly own a PS3

I almost want to agree with you on Fable but the third one brought the series up a little bit for me. The first is still the best but the second was a horrendous flop and third was somewhere in the middle. So it's not in full decline just yet, there may be hope.

Like everyone has said, Final Fantasy.

All the other series I either don't know enough to say anything about them, I like them, or just don't care.

Elder Scrolls. For it's time, Daggerfall was genius. (A 500 meg DOS game? Wth?) Morrowind was fantastic. But Oblivion... buggy as hell with so many half-arsed features. And from what I've heard of Skyrim, I fully expect to be disappointed by it too. :( Considering how much fun I've had with the series, I'm heartbroken.

Also, Fable. The first one was very engaging and deeps, with great gameplay and characters. Fable 2 was fun, not as good as the original Fable, but still okay. As for Fable 3... I finished it in less than a day, and that last bit with the "good" and "evil" decisions was an exercise in "fuck this". I was so disappointed. (If you want a better understanding of what I'm talking about, see the second half of Yahtzee's review.)

Resident Evil started at the bottom of the hill, somehow flew to the peak with 4, and then fell all the way back down with 5. It needs to end...now.

Absolutely Call of Duty. I honestly believe CoD1 was just about as important as Half Life in the fps genre - at least in the PC world. CoD has become a boring single player and terrible multi player game. I know lots of people play it. I don't get it. I'm just old and bitter I guess.

If you can play CoD1 (or 2 I guess) do it. Great games.

Battlefield 1942 was a good PC exclusive, with a large modding compatibility, and great patch support. A few titles down the line, and Bad Company 2 is a God Awful console port, with technical issues out the arse.
