My favorite was probably Gundam Wing. It was the first Gundam series i had ever watched. Caught it everyday at five on Toonami. Oh the Nostalgia.

I haven't seen 'em in ages but 08THMS Team was my favorite from what I recall. G-Gundam following with it's silliness.

I like Seed, that dude that was the pilot caught a shield to the face! And 8th MS Team, seemed more real than any of the others and my boy got the girl at the end.

I've watched them all, including movies, OVAs, and movie summaries of the series (incases like Destiny's movies).

My favorite, to this day, is still 08th MS Team.

I was a big fan of G. Gundam. I didn't watch many of the other incarnations of the series, but I really liked this one (apart from the unbelievably corny final episode. A heart-shaped laser beam? Seriously?)

Good choice.

You are exempt from your names ever appearing in my Death Note.

08th MS Team. I used to watch other Gundam series on toonami and, while not meaning any insult to their fans, the basic pattern I noticed was that they were all about an uber-super-duper-unobtanium-forged-unbeatable-war-mecha-machine with a whiny teenage angst-stick whom everyone basically took on faith was the best pilot evar. To be fair, sometimes there was more than one of them.

08th MS Team, by contrast, wasn't about super machines or super pilots. It was a war story with a love plot under it. The battles weren't one sided, tactical thinking, teamwork, and the occasionally effective use of guerrilla warfare being required to win and even then it never looked "easy". In the only episode to feature an "ace" pilot, he clearly displayed his superiority for tactical thinking and piloting rather than simply having the most awesome machine on the field. His appearence caused palpable fear in the hearts of the charactors and even in death still succeeded in his mission.

The overall storyline was kind of predictable in many places and the main charctor does the "Wahh, war is bad" thing in his quest for love, but in many places this comes off as naive idealism rather than whiny moping, so I forgive him for the most part, if for no other reason than the fact that the rest of the show is good enough to make up for most of his faults.

There's a basic test to decide if you're going to like this short series before you watch it. DO YOU LIKE SUPERHEROES? If so, you're better off with Seed or 0080 or whatever else Gundam is about when I'm working hard to ignore it. If you're more of a realist than a superhero lover, then 08th MS Team is for you, give it a try.

G Gundam for having a hairy Canadian lumberjack fight a hairy Russian communist. It was like peanut butter and chocolate, only with robots and awesomeness.

Oh, thanks. I only watched it like twice, when it was on cartoon network, but I liked it much better than Wing. Though I also only watched that, Wing, and the fighting one. Though DW:Gundam made me consider watching the origional 3 Gundams.

Wing and G Gundam are the only 2 I watched all of, and I don't remember but a few tidbits of the others.

Best - Gundam Wing

It just strikes that perfect note between politically engaging, strategically engaging, and awesome action.

I have to say, I'm surprised that you can say that Gundam Wing had too much off a pacifist message when you like Gundam Seed.

I'd have to say, 00 Gundam is the worst Gundam anime though, and I'm sorry that you watched that entire thing. Me and my friends actually watched the entire thing together, just so we could make fun of that nonsense they called a plot.
My head started to hurt after a while of watching that...
It was really stupid.
And Seed was also really bad in my opinion.
The music was good but...the story just started to fall apart and in both of them the characters became unintresting and really depressing.

G Gundam is my favorite though.
I planned my afternoons around it when it was on Toonami.
So much fun to watch and it had a good story, but most importantly......it had some awesome Mecha designs and Fights.
Wing also had some cool mecha, i cant remember much of the story though.

EDIT:I haven't seen 08th MS yet, but from what my friends have said and the gushing praise this thread gives it...i really really really really want to now.

I think you may be reffering to either Robotech [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Robotech] or Macross [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SuperDimensionFortressMacross?from=Main.Macross], and while they may be great shows (Robotech less so than Macross), they don't have anything to do with Gundam, sorry sir, but you fail, try again.

OT: Firstly, I'm impressed with the amount of people that have said the 8th MS Team, you guys all rock for your awesome taste in mecha shows.

Also, my #1 Gundam series would be, you guessed it, 8th MS Team, with 00 holding the #2 position, hence the Setsuna/Soran avatar.
