OK, its gotten this far without anyone saying it, so, Gordon Freeman!!!
I didn't really see him as a hero, rather a scientist with a prybar.
Yeah i don't seem him as a hero either, he's more like a nerd's fantasy, cause seriously were can u find a scientist that also has commando trainig and can kill thousands of aliens and highly trained soldiers

Haha exactly, plus he's as overrated as the whole series.

Either this or April Ryan.
Actually, I think I prefer April Ryan. No other character in the history of... well, fiction has developed and changed so much, while still being realistic and human and extremely likeable.

Max Payne and Commander Shepard.
I like Shephard. While you can choose to be a Paragon/Renegade (if ANYONE says it's good/bad or good/evil I'll punch you in the face. Paragon/Renegade means Altruistic/Pragmatic, not Patron Saint of Everything/Eats Kittens), the base personality stays the same, so everyone's Commander plays out a little bit differently while remaining similar.

Max Payne? I like his story in itself, and the games are among my favourites, but I got pretty tired of his monologues.
"As I lazily shuffled through the cold Shakesperian tempest of pitch-black New York City during a night that reminded me of a limping dog shuffling through the garbage cans of more fortunate denizens for something to stay alive just a bit longer, I spotted a black figure, like a dancing Valkyrie beckoning to me to come and be taken away to Valhalla. The shape loomed hazily over me, like a sign of things to come growing more and more fuzzy. I was too tired, or too furious, or too stupid to understand the signs, but there they were, and I would soon be reminded of their cryptic meaning by a sudden boom and a half-inch wide piece of lead being lodged into my shoulder, like a parasite looking for a new host to destroy."
I had fun with that ^^
