Lancer from Gears of War or the lawnmower from Dead Rising. I like chopping things up.

hmm...too many variables to pick just one...

Melee: Ripper from Fallout 3 or the Chainsword from the various Warhammer 40k games. None of this improbably and clumsy chainsaw bayonet bullcrap
Pistol: Falcon 2 from Perfect Dark or the DD44 from Goldeneye
SMG: The Submachine gun from Red Faction (fires both 12mm and 5.56 ammo) or the 10mm SMG from the Fallout series
Rifle: either the AK-47 clone from Perfect Dark Zero (because of it's air-powered bayonet launcher) or the K7 Avenger from Perfect Dark
Explosives: Remote Mines (Goldeneye/Perfect Dark)

The Gravity Gun from Half-Life 2 and the Gravity Hammer from Halo 3. They both usually result in one's opponent sailing through the sky at high speed, which is good enough for me.

Actually, most of the weapons in ROTT were pretty sweet. The Dark Matter launcher, the drunken missile launcher, the Flame Wall bazooka. Watch a few videos on YouTube and you'll see what I mean. Not bad for late 1994.

I did a poll like this a few days ago; the outcome decided that the most iconic weapon was the shotgun.

I voted for the shotgun, but I'll be more specific; my favorite shotgun in gaming is the pump action shotgun from Bioshock

Shotguns are always the best in every game I've ever played. No good for range, usually, but definitely a winning combo when you need to part someone/something's face from it's head at a moment's notice.

.. except when you're in Half-Life and have to sit there and load shells.
