To be honest, I think it would be Nate and Rosa. I mean, they stopped a powered-up Team Plasma, survived a blow from Glaciate, defeated Black/White Kyurem, defeated arguably the strongest Elite Four ever made, and caught about (If you include both games) 17 legendary Pokemon! But I want your opinions

Hard to say, mainly because there are few official teams for the player characters. However, I can certainly say that Red would not be, despite the fact that a lot of Pokemon fans consider him the ultimate trainer. If one plays the entirety of Gold and Silver and the remakes, they are meant to beat Red to show their skill. Maybe it's unfair to the character, but as far as we know, he's the only one that can truly be beaten in the games.

The gen 5 protagonists(Black and White in particular) are a good choice, primarily since they are forced to capture at least one Legendary Pokemon which ups their power level. The same could be said for the gen 6 protagonists, and they can use mega evolution as well. Not to mention, ORAS forces you to capture a Rayquaza who can mega evolve, and we all know how grossly overpowered that thing is.

I think the only way to determine this would be to look at the Pokemon Adventures protagonists. I think that would be a more accurate way to look at their personal strengths. My favorite would be Black from the Black and White chapter, if primarily because he owns a Reshiram, and I like his design. I cosplayed as him at Anime expo after all! XD I can't say he would be the strongest since I haven't read much of the manga yet.

Honestly? I would say the Pokemon X protag, if only because it's kinda implied that

The radiation from the Team death Ray has made you immortal, or something? Like AZ?

However, that's all speculation. I think just by sheer amount of legendaries alone, the ORAS crew wins. There's like, what, thirty some legendaries between the two? Not to mention that things like Primal Groudon and Mega Rayquaza are absolute beasts.

Really the only one we can safely take out of the running is Red, because He's defeatable in gold and silver, and I'm just assuming it's canon that you beat every trainer in game

No clue as to the strongest I would say the heart gold protagonists are easily the weakest as I recall they barely made it to professor elms lab before giving up going home and ending their journey without even receiving a starter, then for some reason the focus shifted to some spiky haired lawyer and everyone forgot about Pokemon until Unova happened. it was a very odd disjointed story, but still very enjoyable when it focused in on Mr Wright.

They would have been given eternal life if the weapon was used, but it was stopped before that could happen. That being said, whoever owns Xerneas could receive eternal life. So in theory they can have that power if they wanted.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I only actually played Y) but isn't the weapon fired directly upwards, and then back down on the building? Or would that not do it? How does an immortality ray do damage to anything anyways?

Red. Canonically he has the highest levelled team on the entire series. Baddaboom.

It's been a while since I played, I do remember the weapon being activated, but I think the process was stopped before the beam came back down. I assume that the ray would suck the life out of other living things, and give it to the people using the weapon. It's very weird, especially in X since Xerneas is meant to create life, but the weapons still works like a big Yveltal. The whole doomsday device plot was just weird all around. >.>

True, but he is still beatable, not only in Gold and Silver, but also Black and White 2 in the World Tournament. Considering every player has different teams at different levels, I think the overall question is impossible to answer in the first place. It's still fun to think about of course.

Diamond/Pearl/Platinum are the only games in which you are even capable of capturing Arceus, which is believed to be the God of Pokemon (currently) and created all the other legendaries. So the protagonists in those games would be a very strong contender.

In Platinum you went to another dimension and came out fine, so the mental strength of that specific protagonist is shown to be outstanding. I'm putting my vote with the protagonist of Platinum, Dawn!... Or Lucas... Or whatever you named them in that game.

Gold/Silver's protagonist. Seeing as he/she's collected 16 badges by the end, instead of the usual 8.

With the other trainers in the game's series who've been able to catch legendary god pokemon, anyone can throw a masterball.

I'm going to say the Colosseum and Gale of Darkness trainer (I think "Wes" is his default name).
I mean being able to snag/steal other trainers pokemons! By now he has certainly learnt how to do that on normal pokemons too so it's a win in any situation :D
Plus his shadow pokemons can learn stronger moves than just normal 'mons.

Physically strongest? Callum and Serena from X and Y. Considering they're both about 17 (old enough to get a "real" job!) and the rest of them are preteens/tweens, that's a fairly safe assumption.

Nate and Rosa who???? I had to look up those names and those are the canon names for the Black and White 2 characters?

OT- I still go with Red since he is the only "champion" in the game so far. I mean named me another character other than yourself that had beaten the Elite 4 (including the rival if you're not facing the champion like Pokemon Red/ Blue etc) before you which then you must defeat aswell in order to claim the title "champion"???

Seriously that is some stong stuff if you had become the champion and then having other trainers coming after you to take the title, now Red know how a gym Leader feel.
