You are basically describing the initial design document for Trespasser. That game was quite literally a decade and a half before its time and it suffered a terrible fate for it. It was basically intended to be a persistent world with advanced AI dictating the dinosaurs, advanced physics and an inclination towards sandbox exploration of Site B and the dinosaurs there, complete with dinosaur on dinosaur interactions. It ran way over budget and deadline and what eventually was released was a barely functional FPS with terrible AI, inconsistent physics and bare bones areas.

There's a rather excellent Let's Play that goes through the games and talks about what could have been here [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6A3SaRr26M&list=PL0058A651EB882B48]. If you've ever wanted a good Jurassic Park game there's a good chance it will break your heart though. At least it did for me, so much wasted potential.
Oh man, I HAVE to find and run this game. Thank you for the heads up!

Its not so much does the movie deserve a videogame as it deserves a good game. Plenty of good movies have games but damn near all of them suck or have no connection to the movie beside the name.

I think Black Hawk Down has potential to be a good game. Each level can be a different stage in the insertion and then evacuation of the troops involved in the raid. Or could manage the raid from start to finish in real time, moving each independent section of forces from one objective to the next in whichever way you feel best.

I'm thinking it might be best as a top-down strategy game... could work as an FPS, but I wouldn't want it to be; simply because I'm so jaded with the FPS genre at present. Also could work in the style of Conflict: Desert Storm.

Mechanics would include:
Having to keep up a defensive perimeter (if under attack),
Managing ammunition,
Taking as little casualties as possible,
If someone is wounded you have to try to evac them with you,
Achieving objectives as soon as possible,
Maybe have a scoring system based on how well you do the things above.
There is a game for that movie, but it does not have those suggested mechanics. It would make an interesting, if however prolonged, arcade game, especially given the scoring system. The one thing that might deprive it of that feeling of adrenaline is the habit of taking cover any time and every time the player takes too much damage like in your average FPS today.

Snowpiercer? I think Snowpiercer would make a good game. Everything about it felt like a video game to me.
I was one of the few people who didn't love love love "Snowpiercer" - it was really good, but it never really justified that ludicrous premise it had. Why did it fave to be a train? And so on.

After thinking about it, I came to realize that it was essentially a Metro 2033 movie - even taking place in 2034 - in all but name.

Give 12 Angry Men to Telltale and don't tell people it's 12 Angry Men until they get to that episode. The idea of an incredibly simple game wherein you simulate a jury during deliberation seems like the kind of thing that would sound like garbage on paper but there are a surprising number of successful games in that category these days, like Papers, Please and, Euro Truck Simulator. Telltale's 12 Angry Men...think about it.

Sounds quite similar to the old Full Spectrum Warrior, which was a pretty gun squad based game. A modern day combat strategy game sounds great though.

In terms of an FPS Black Hawk Down has already been done as others have said. The mod Project Reality has a map called Ramiel that is effectively Mogadishu from Black Hawk Down. It has 3 different layouts, including one that has loads of humvees and armour for convoys as well as helicopters. The mod has full singleplayer support if you want to try it out.

If you're jaded with FPS, Project Reality might be a nice change of pace with you. The single player is pretty much like large battle sandboxes for you to do what you want in.

The Raid is pretty much a game-

You got a bunch of nameless characters which were all killed off except for the important one right at the very start of the game.
The main character (who the player played as) has some insane combat skill.
You start at the bottom and you worked your way to the top. This in turn starts with weak enemies but get stronger as you entered the next level.
Minibosses and bosses.
Suvival skills is also an implication into the game aswell (need health and rest and useful the environment and item laying around to your advantage).

Heck it would of been perfect if it has a retro 80's/ 90's theme to it aswell (You alone must rise to the top to arrest the master crimial mind while taking on his legion of goons along the way)!

Before you asked me about the Raid 2, I still haven't seen it.

People have brought up Escape from New York, Big Trouble in Little China and Assault on Precint 13. Honestly I feel I every movie ever made by John Carpenter is a good contender. There was The Thing (actually a sequel to the 1982 movie) on the PS2, which I haven't played, but it definitely sounds like an interesting survival horror with an original gimmick. I don't know just how broken that gimmick is though.

Escape from New York did have a game in development a looooooooong time ago:

The Thing game was pretty good fun. I still have it on PS2. It's worth a play for sure.

none, cause it's very rare for a game based on a movie to be good due to a small budget and short development timeline given to the developer by the movie studio..

I made a thread long ago about how easily they could turn "Pacific Rim" into another "X-Com", when you consider how ridiculously similar their plots are, so I'm gonna advocate for that again.

I actually think it would be cool to have a "Dredd" game that plays out like a big strategy game. You have limited resources, a limited # of Judges (and you can recruit more), and you have to prioritize calls, go to war with big gangs and various other Dredd universe issues (the Dark Judges, anyone?), allocate resources, and research newer and more advanced weapons, armor, and transportation. When you conduct raids on gang HQs, the game could switch to FPS/tactical mode sort of like Rainbow Six: Vegas. Individual Judges would have their own stats and level up, and along the way you would have the help of "Hero" Judges, like Dredd, Anderson, and Giant.
