I think by now we should just take this a given.

Anything Anime. (They are so predictable its just lame.)
I'm betting you'e never seen Ghost in the Shell or The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. If you can predict either of those two then you, my dear escapist, deserve more salutes and cookies then I could possibly fit in a post.

Like most genres, the real classics aren't the ones you hear about often, but they do exist.

I personally won't watch the ;ast movie in the Matrix trilogy. After part 2, I just can't see it being worth it.

Horror movies, recently. I'm more of a comedy man, myself.

I just don't want to watch horror movies, I don't see the appeal in them.

Ben Stiller 'comedies'.
Will Smith 'dramas'.
Uwe Boll (obviously).

I've been burned too many times by all of the above. Otherwise I'll watch any old crap.

Romantic comedies... they must die!

Also, drama and soap-opera stuff get mean looks from me!

Most of The Matrix Revolutions takes place in the real world, so if you're worried about the terrible "video game" graphics used occasionally in the second film, worry no more. I loved the hell out of the 1st to films and initially, was somewhat disappointed by the third, but it has since grown on me. The battle for Zion is absolutely epic and the final Neo/Smith fight shows more anime influence than the 1st 2 films combined. It's priceless. If I were to ***** about anything regarding the movie, though, it would have to be that there's considerably less techno.

Also: I love Monica Belluci

I refuse to watch twilight and new moon, partly because I think it will be bad, and partly because it's aimed at teenage girls and if I like it I will be ashamed.

Is the Twilight series redundant? How about the Saw series?

Also stupid-humor movies.
IE: Anything with the Superbad cast, Adam Sandler, that-dude-from-Napolean Dynamite, et al.

The only exception -and I mean ONLY- was The Hangover, that was funny as heck.

Otherwise, I won't want movies that are seemingly targeted at the lowest common denominators of society.

Are you kidding? This thread died at post #199? I have to remedy this...

I try to give every movie a shot because sometimes they surprise me. For instance I watched 17 Again, a movie that I intentionally passed up seeing for $4, and I enjoyed it. Laugh all you want but it earned a 3/5 in my books.

But I try to avoid movies with a PISS-POOR trailer or a RIDICULOUSLY low score on IMDB. For instance I passed up watching Old Dogs with Robin Williams and John Travolta at my cheap theater for $2 due to it's absolutely TERRIBLE trailer.

Movies in which gore is the main selling point, IE most horror flicks and certain "dramas". I just don't like it.

Pretty much every movie of the last decade, with a few special targets for my hatred.

AbramsTrek ("Star Trek"/STXI) all right, so a current "hot chick" of cinema seems to be Megan Fox. Imagine if you will a movie where the entire first act is Ms. Fox being slowly ripped to pieces. That's what Abrams did with the design of his new Enterprise. The original Connie and her refit always had a special place in my heart. The ships were always the best part (except The Voyage Home)

Avatar. So what that it's pretty? So is Call of Duty 4: Modern Retread. Does teh pretty cover up for a story that sounds like it's the fantasy of the leftest of left (or rightest of right with CoD: Modern Fishsticks)? Especially when the same story has been crammed down our throats with only the smallest bit of original thought?

Anything by Uwe Boll or Micheal Bay or George Lucas or Devlin/Emmerich (2012, Godzilla, Tomorrow+1) goes in the crap pile.

Movies just kinda bore me, with a few exceptions.
