We all have that moment where we're in a conversation with friends or colleagues and someone starts on a subject you're not comfortable with. What is that ONE subject?

For me, it would have to be incest. The whole idea in my opinion is just wrong. So tell me, Escapist. What is it for you?

Rape, which is made much worse by the fact that several of my friends seem to find it necessary to check all news resources to be up on the latest rape stories. I don't know why, but they always feel the need to tell me these stories. Seriously, I just know to expect from two different friends that as soon as the conversation veers towards sex in any way, I'm gonna have to listen to another rape story. Why!?

Politics. Because every political discussion turns into several people hissing venom into other people's beliefs, while they hiss venom right the fuck back.

So annoying how everyone is opinionated.

Politics, religion, and feelings. If you do not have my consent and you bring anything of these things up, happiness and sunshine just died, and no amount of ponies will bring it back.

Unless there is a gun pointed to my head or other similar physical threat, no subject makes me uncomfortable to converse upon, at least with intelligent, rational people.

On the flip-side, when trying to communicate with some people (most conspiracy theorists, radical separatist feminists/masculists, religious fundamentalists, political hardliners and the like), every subject under the sun is either no fun at all or the source of immeasurable hilarity, depending upon what mood one is in or one's tolerance for crackpot connections made between seemingly unconnected random minutiae and condemnation of everyone not in absolute agreement with certain groups' wild guesses as to the truth of everything and how it's the fault of everyone else that everything is so terrible right now (by whatever standards of terror they're going by at present).

I understand. Talking about that is crushingly difficult. (P.S. Nice avatar)

Myself. I hate talking about myself. I either feel like i'm under some kind of examination or i hate to take any kind of credit or personal glory. I don't like to criticise nor praise myself. I much more prefer to take a back seat and freak out and get paranoid when the spotlight is on me. This is due to my anxiety issues however, i get uncomfortable when someone is looking at me, let alone talking about me.

It's funny. You talk to me about "Say, why don't we go hurt some guy", and I'm envisioning blood and screaming. You talk to me about a friend who got injured badly and I wince.

Religion. I'm always afraid that I'm gonna say _something_ that offends Christians.

when I was around that age it was always "so what do you want to do"

cue awkward silence, or dancing around the topic or just flat out awkward "I dont know" (so please just drop it ok? you dont even care your just making small talk)

now its "so what did you when you lefted school?"

me:"uhh well I fucked around a bit, failed at life, its still a sore point and I dont wanna talk about it"

or god forbid any member of my family tries to bring up anythign sex related, only ever happedned once in which I buried my face in a pillow and screamed "NOT HAVING THIS CONVERSATION!"

Talking about sex that other people have had annoys the piss outta me. Other than that, no single subject matter makes me uncomfortable.

Politics and Religion, I am very steadfast in my beliefs and I will speak my mind when it comes down to it but I'd rather not get into a flame war with someone over personal beliefs.

A few things
1) Myself - I have slight self-esteem Issues, I don't believe that I am attractive at all, although I am occasionally told differently (I am 5'11" 200lbs, 10% body fat with a general football players build[footnote]I have never actually played football[/footnote] as in broad shoulders(broad enough that jackets that are the right length for me don't fit across my shoulders) and a thickish neck) I also despise my hair(it is extremely curly, if I let it crow out it will grow into an afro and I am white) girls seem to love me hair which brings me to number 2
2) My hair - for some reason girls like to run their hands through it, and it really irritates me, no one ever asks they just do it and comment on how nice it is.
3) America - But only with the extremely anti-american Americans, it doesn't bother me if a citizen of another country doesn't like America I can understand that, but if you are living here it just irks me.
4) Soldiers - But only with those people who believe that the soldiers are going to hell, or that no soldier deserves respect or honor

Whenever it comes to religion and politics, the opposing arguer has the tendency to shove his/her opinions up your hind end as if they're facts. I try to avoid both these subjects for that reason.

I hear you, at one point when in the car with my mother, out of nowhere she asked "are you sexually active?" By the time I remember what the opposite of yes was i had hesitated for to long and knew she would never believe no
