Hi all, im new to this forum and wanted ask all of rpg fans here about any good single payer only rpg game for pc only. I have played a lot of rpg cuz they are my favorite, i still play WOW, but im craving for some single player rpg. I like games like Elder Scrolls seris ( played them all ), Gothic 2,3 also, almost any Diablo clone and Diablo 2 ( cant aford Diablo 3), Dragon age series, Witcher 1 ( cant run Witcher 2 ), Borderland 1,2 even i dont like shooter games so i dint play MES to much or Fallout series. I didnt have PC for few years and i wonder did i miss any game in that time. Keep in mind that i have Laptop whit this spec:
Mobile Dual Core B820 1.7Ghz
4 GB DDR3
Intel HD 4000
Windows 7 Ulimate 64bit
Even its a low spec some game i can play and some not. I did play Skyrim on high detail and lots of mods, but cant play Dark Souls with 12 fps. I dont realy know what games i missed and i hope u guys can help me. Tnx All

Torchlight 2 scratches all your Diablo-esque loot gathering itches, and with all the mods readily available on Steam, ther are tons and tons of classes to fiddle with.

If you don't mind some of the older RPG's try Planescape Torment, Knights of the Old Republic or Neverwinter Nights 2.
Those games above all work on DnD rules, so if you enjoy those, I highly recommend them.

Otherwise:
Vampire: The Masqurade Bloodlines
Final Fantasy VII and VIII were just re-released on Steam (They are Console JRPG's)
I'll try to give some more examples when I get home from work.

Ever tried Titan Quest? It's a pretty good Diablo-esk game. Even better if you're into Greek Mythology. Pretty old game now, should be quite cheap on Steam.

The Baldur's Gate enhanced series was just released. You should be able to run that with no troubles.

You know that Fallout 1 and 2 aren't shooters, right? They are turn based RPG strategy games. Roughly in the same vein is Jagged Alliance 1&2, with a mercenary/soldier theme.

How about Arcanum? You can get that cheap at gog.com. It's an isometric RPG in a steampunk setting. Legend of Grimrock might be something for you too, it's an old school dungeon crawler RPG.

If you want to go old school - definitely try planescape torment and the Baldurs Gate series. I can't imagine they are too expensive to pick up and try. Planescape often makes it to the top of 'best rpgs of all time' lists or is in and around the top, usually followed somewhere near by Baldurs Gate. They are very text heavy, so if you played Dragon Age by talking to everyone and enjoying all the dialogue - I would equate the experience as very similar, although less of the dialogue is voiced compared with Dragon Age and graphically they will not come close to Dragon Age.

New-age - I would definitely suggest Mass Effect. If you are wary of the fact the combat centres around 3rd person shooting, I'd suggest just buying the first one (it can't be more than £5) and seeing how it feels alongside the aspects of the game that don't involve any shooting. I personally will remember that series for the story and dialogue, not for battles. Often rpg combat can just be a means to an end, just having to work through them in order to reach more story aspects.

Alternatively, the old final fantasys are making their way onto the realm of pcs and, if you like that style, numbers 7 & 8 will always be a prominent part of my gaming history - although I accept they are heavily covered in nostalgia.

Well, there's 2 Vampire the Masquerade PC RPGs. "VtM:Bloodlines" is the one you usually hear about. It's an amazingly immersive and well written/acted Deus Ex style game that I think every RPG fan owes it to themselves to play at least once. Sadly it was built on a very early and buggy version of the Source Engine. Then it was pushed out the door before it was ready by Activision and White Wolf. Developer Troika games shut down before any real patches could be released so that you need a fan patch to even get it running today.

The other, earlier VtM game is "Redemption", a much more Diablo-style game you can find on gog.

Well, GoG has flat prices across all countries the last time I looked, but hey if you're broke you're broke I know. They do have some Free RPGs and other games though http://www.gog.com/games##price=free if you wanna go really old school. Specifically some of the Ultima games are on there. If you've never heard of Ultima I'd suggest watching Spoony's very funny (but also very SPOILER-y) videos on the series. Here's his review of Ultima 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9cjTV_ItIs and here's his review of Ultima 4, which is the main series game that's free on GoG. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPQ5rLzP8Qo Ultima: Savage Empire and Ultima: Martian Dreams, the other two free Ultima games on gog, are spinoffs and don't really have much to do with the main series games aside from the blank-slate main character and using the Ultima 6 engine.

Whatever games you decide to play, hope you have fun!

PS- Due to being pushed out before it was fully finished there is what some would consider a balancing issue with VtM:Bloodlines. You can get through about half the game putting little to no skillpoints in combat, but after that point you really need to have high enough stats in either ranged or melee combat to continue. Especially for the finale.

Go for the games on the Infinity Engine like Planescape: Torment, Baldur's Gate, and Icewind Dale.

Try some Arkane Studios games like Arx Fatalis, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, and Dishonored. All three are first-person RPGs with different amounts of focus on combat and character building.

If you liked Gothic you need to play Risen. It's awesome. Not as big as Gothic 2, but way better than Gothic 3. Risen 2 is not so good, though, so keep to 1 for the start.

Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 Enhanced Editions are both out and offer a classic nostalgia experience with a nice updated package... PLUS there's tons of mods to enhance them.

Check out the forums for BG as well, there's an entire section called "Challenges" where you can get cool ideas for new challenging ways to play through each game.
