Eh, get the slim.
They're easier to set up, and they're surprisingly tough.
I once accidentally tugged mine of a two foot high table.
No damage done to either the console or the game that was in there when it fell.

I'm pretty sure the only difference is aesthetics, and I just felt more comfortable with the knowledge that if my big old clunky PS2 fell on the floor, the PS2 would do more damage to the floor then the floor to it.

I swear the slim has some random device holes removed that the blocky one doesn't. You know, those holes that you've never wanted nor needed to use. Yea, those.

Get the slim-line.

The disc drives in the first generation PS2's had a tendency toward failure.

i heard the slims are more prone to over heating because of the size and that the cd laser is easily scratched due to it having no cd tray but this could all be bullshit. Like more people above me the ps2 takes alot of abuse i had a 14" crt monitor fall on mine cracked the back corner but thats it still works perfectly. I personally would go for the bulky one

I've had a chunky one since about two years after they were released and its never failed me.
A friend got a slim one and was let down when he saw the power adaptor for it, which is rather large, though not nearly the size of a xbox one.

I've still got my bulky one and I'd say you could almost pick one of those up cheaper than a slim.

Only difference I know, the slim is A LOT smaller. Really, don't underestimate quite how ridiculously large the non-slim is in comparison.
