I liked both but thought Pitch Black was better, not really sure why... but there was no 'bad one'

As in... games? films? what?

I'll assume films and say that Pitch Black was the good one, mainly because the character of Riddick was so much more awesome, seeing as how the film was filled with that sense of Riddick would love to kill the people he's helping were it not for the fact he needs them to get off the planet, and that the only reason the other survivors tolerate his help is because he's the lesser of two evils.

Chronicles was just far too... meh, is the only word i can think of to describe it. It just tried too hard to be something it wasn't meant to be, if that makes any sense.

You know, a poll would have been quite useful here.

Anyway, I thought Pitch Black was a much better film. Possibly because it was quite a simple concept executed well, possibly because chronicles of Riddick was a bit daft.

Oh, and IMDB agrees with me

I preferred Pitch Black although Chronicles of Riddick was more action-filled and grander scale. Both are good movies, in my opinion.

Had to laugh at this considering our... immigration problem here in England;

Pitch Black was alright.

Chronicles was downright stupid.

In the first one, Riddick had to share the spotlight with a bunch of other people. In the second one, it's just him running around being improbably "badass".

Isn't it obvious that the Pitch Black version was better? He was 3 dimensional AND an asshole at the same time. All other versions just showed him brooding over...well, life. Can anyone really give a good argument for any other version of Riddick? (Seriously, I'm all ears if someone has a point to make)

I'd say no, but then it may be in violation of your human rights. Please, just don't ask for a cut of my wages, I think... I'm sure I'm obliged to comply!

Pitch Black was great.

That movie with the super sayan motherfuckers where he just happens to accidentally kill the final boss guy somehow and instantly becomes their leader was a lot less good. I didn't dislike it, but it was just meh action movie fodder.

Seems like there was another one, and I liked it, but I might be remembering one of the games and thinking it was a movie instead.

Pitch Black.
The sequel was cheesy as shit.

I'd still like to see another Riddick movie, though.

Apart from Riddick and a few other recurring characters , I don't feel that Pitch Black has anything to do with The Chronicles Of Riddick, I think both would've been better separate. Pitch Black stands on its own as a horror film, and Riddick and stand as an action film not having the relative success of its predecessor on its shoulders making it try to hard

The BNP are a fine troupe aren't they?
That aside:

Pitch Black was the superior one by far. Chronicles was a c-grade cash cow.

Yeah agree Pitch black was actually very good, while chronicles just seemed a bad Dune clone.

Pitch Black was an atmospheric if unoriginal light horror film

Chronicles was an atmospheric, beautiful and ridiculous sci fi Conan rip off

Neither are particularly great, but they make for a good way to waste a couple of hours.
