All I want is a good, modern one. That is to say, I don't particularly want space lasers, and Medieval has been done to undeath. If we just found some middle ground, we'd be able to revolutionise the genre.

Just as a generallity, I mostly go for the present/past time RPGs, but there isn't a major preference. Chrono Trigger took place in both, and it's possibly the most well written JRPG ever made. Except maybe Earthbound. But if it does take place in the future, a serious tone is necessary. Light heartedness works best in traditional RPGs. But in the world of RPGs, can you really peg down when they take place?

I've never been much of a sci-fi geek (Unless it's the original Star Wars Trilogy)
So my vote would have to be fantasy settings.

The guy was making fun of the Airplane crash that had the polish president (and half the damn government) on it!
I don't mean to sound heartless, but the saying "Don't put all your eggs in one basket" exist for a reason.

Mayhap they did not have this exact scenario in mind, but the theory is sound. *shrugs*
Well St. Psycho, wouldn't you call it disrespectful to refer to them as the "damn government" if you care so much?

Anything with some genuine fantasy thrown in. I'm fed up of realism, I want some escapism.

I'm sick of both fantasy AND sci-fi settings for RPGs. I would make one set in a modern day city. It'd be turn-based, because no-one's made a turn-based RPG in ages!

I guess that would be a viewpoint of perspective, really.

Am I offended? No.

I find it slightly ironic and funny that half of Poland's gov't were wiped out, in Russia, on their way to a memorial built to the deaths of many of Poland's elite corps at Russia's hands.

The universe has a wicked sense of humor. If you can't set back and laugh at that, you'll eventually go crazy. If you take offense at every imagined insult, you won't live long enough to go insane.

So, I'll just sit back, chuckle to myself, and go on with it all.
Sorry St. Psycho, my bad! I meant to direct that quote at Project Omega. Oops.

Doesn't matter about the theme or setting of the game but the game itself. I got more into Mass Effect 1 then Mass Effect 2 because number 2 missed the RPG elements. However Dragon Age was lots of fun and felt much more in-depth then both of them. I was more into Fallout then Oblivion but both games still pissed me off and bored the hell out of me at similar points in the game.

BioWare beats Bethesda in my books "only" because of the combat in their games.
