I have been pondering this today at work, and would love to hear some ideas from you, the escapist community. They can be from any point in history, and any setting imaginable.

For me personally I would love, Love, LOVE to see a game set in Scotland while the wars of independence were in progress. Now this could be in a total war type rts game, skyrim-esque rpg, or a new assassins creed entry, similarly implemented to number 3.

Let rip your ideas people!

There is a disappointing lack of games set in world war 1. The images from that era are all absolutely haunting. I think a good studio could put together a game with a fantastic aesthetic.

I second a World War One setting, especially because I'd love a multiplayer map where two large teams were lined up in opposite trenches, and had to duke it out, running across no man's land at each other, sniping down lines of infantry charging at you. It would be an interesting change to the free-for-all haphazard maps used in all FPS games at the moment.

I would love more medieval action games like Mount and Blade or even one set in something like the Napoleon wars. Not a completely empty setting right now but I wouldn't mind seeing more in it.

Present day canada !

I would love a game to be entirely situated in canada . Imagine if spiderman was in say toronto instead of new york ? Or if the next CoD was about a made up Canadian civil war ... IN QUEBEC! ( thats the place where are the french people are in canada ) .

Of course things would have to be embellished a bit , since canada is so boring , but what ever . Just seeings canadian Npcs , with canadian accents , and canadian monuments would be cool . Well for me , because i r canadian , eh?

Shakespeare. Like the Hundred Years War with a full on Thespian voice cast and making as much use of the original scripts as possible.

Ohhh, those kind of settings.

I'd like to see a game set in a series of densely populated shanty towns in a dystopic future like Judge Dredd or Blade Runner; rather than the current post-nuclear ten people per town set-up.

Alternatively, I'd like to play a game similar to the movie Death Sentence, where you start as a normal person who's forced to become a killer and your methods get more refined as you progress; with the choice to either try and hide what you do as you go like Dexter or become an infamous force in the criminal world.

I am a huge Dredd fan so I would love a decent dredd game.

Your killer game sounds great! I dunno If I'm sick in the head but I would love a proper stealth/rpg game like that where you would need to kill carefully, dispose properly or face the chair. Sort of like a game version of dexter where you could hear the main characters inner thoughts as you play.

I'm a big fan of Warhammer 40k, and I think some of the worlds they speak about would be interesting to visit, even if only for a single level. Places such as the apartment complex hive worlds, the manufactorum worlds, where nature is blotted out in the name of manufactoring, and even Holy Terra itself, with its statues, and the emperor's palace and golden throne. If we could see these locations in a game, I would definitely buy it.

I just don't think there are enough of brown/grey suburban cities in games, we need more of those.
(totally not sarcasm).

F**k that be awesome.
seconded

But I must say WWI would be nice indeed, but I also would really like to see a really nice Steampunk or Industrial Revolution type setting similar to fable 2 but open world or something.

Anything that NOT High Fantasy, modern, or Space Opera. I'd like to see a not fantasy medieval RTS, no magic, or dragons, just men hacking each other to death. In which you have to keep morale as high as possible, keep the towns you conquer not just from other armies, but from rebellions also, without taxing them too little. It'd be neat to also have mechanics such as prophets, religions, plagues, famines and other disasters which may cause an internal uprising, which is often more threatening than an invading army.
I'm not sure, but I haven't heard about any ancient Asian fantasy games, there's some classics, but no new ones. That'd be just as cool.

Here's a revolutionary idea. How about we have a game set in a war torn, nameless Middle Eastern country. It's BRILLIANT.

Star trek. I know there are already games in the star trek universe but those are mostly (or entirely) about space combat which is in fact a very small part in the star trek universe.
It's like making a star wars game about the galactic senate.

What I wan't is an open world/space exploration/alien diplomacy/weird science/spaceship living game.
I'm guessing is way to much to ask :p

Also, Cyberpunk Argentina.

Knowing Canada's luck, they'd all be voiced by people from northern New York, North Dakota, Montana and Minnesota. Close enough, right?! :D

How many modern games actually take place in Canada, anyways? Off the top of my head, I can't for the life of me think of any...

Nordic countries. Finland, Sweden and Norway. Any or all of them. Modern or historic times.

Beautiful rural settings and clean, organized cities.

There's also lots of mythological stuff for fantasy setting, as well as a high technological level for any modern or future stuff.

A planet where everything is made of naturally occurring metals and minerals. The grass is cobalt, the trees are malachite and copper, the water is mercury.

The planet is populated by creatures similar to mythical creatures, but are born with organic metal flesh and organs.
