Which stereotypes do you observe?

I am British.

I like a nice cup of tea, strawberries and cream, Her Majesty the Queen, roast dinners and sarcastic humour (to name but a few).

Also, I'm never a fan of what the government is doing regardless of the party in power (it's a British thing, we take not liking the incumbant very seriously over here).

However, I don't have a rediculously posh accent or sound like a London Chimney sweep c. 1878, I don't watch soaps on telly, and I don't brandish a rolling pin and wear curlers all day.

I'm spanish.

Apparently I am a beaner and a mexican, even though I am as white as the snow. I am also supposed to be fucking pro at soccer, and I suck at it. To be honest when I go to america most people think I am american untill I speak and unleash my terribly thick spanish accent or actually tell someone where I am from.

Also "Lolwut Spain isn't in South America? you are kidding me right?"

I'm also a nerd. "Fix my computer". "Help me beat this boss". Those stereotypes are kind of true tho.
Fist Bump~

Altho I know you're not from South America (neither am I, I'm from central America) I can feel your pain brother.

My biggest problem is when people go to "America" and they are actually talking about the country (United States of America)... America is a Continent!!! Arrgghhh I feel like I'm on crazy pills here!!

It's like, what are you/where are you from? I'm from Europe/European... Oh cool so yeah awesome Where are you from?
I'm from America/american... --Oh, but you don't look american... Oh wait, you mean you are a latin american... Oh ok, that makes sense now. And I'm all like... What?
Thank you. Using the base word Latin to reference people of mixed Native American/Spanish descent has always bugged me. If a person from Mexico is "Latin American", then so is a French Canadian. French is a Latin-derived language too. Italian-Americans, too. Latin.

I'm American.

My stereotype is that I am awesome.

But seriously: I own guns and drive a rusty truck. Other than that though I'm pretty A-typical.

Oh, goody, I'm gonna have fun with this one. >:)

I'm American, which means I must be some snotty, dumb, irrational, bible-thumping, ignorant twerp.

I'm white, which must mean I must be all "end of the world as I know it" because a black guy is in the White House.

I'm a traditional male, which must mean I think women are only good as baby factories and that what I say in the family goes.

I'm Christian, which must mean I think everybody except me is "going to hell".

As proxy to the first one, I must hate atheists, gays, and must want to turn America into some kind of theocracy, even though that would kind of impossible to do with everyone here also owning a gun... ;-)

There are a billion others I could think of, but those are the most close-to-home ones I can think of right off the bat.

When I say "Rap blaring from a car at a stop light", the first thing that pops into your mind is 90% of what I see when I make that observation. Enormous 70s or 80s American sedan, 24" spinner rims, horrible horrible music rattling it apart, and what sounds like an overworked quarter million mile smog smallblock trying to move the behemoth down the road.
I noticed that you tactfully left out who's driving it...

I'm Canadian and hate bacon. I don't say "eh". I'm not very friendly. I almost never say sorry.

I'm just a peach, really.

Well, I'm a caucasian American who's into heavy metal (but I'm also into symphony, classic rock, punk, techno, a few flavors of rap, et cetera... can't stand country, though. Except for bluegrass)... I also own a whole bunch of guns... I'm a gamer/geek/sci-fi/fantasy fan who owns a whole bunch of well tempered, high carbon steel swords and knows how to use 'em... I'm an Army short-timer turned misanthropic war veteran...

...and yet, I'm not a serial murderer. Stereotype averted.
So, pretty much this without the guns and military time. Also, I have long hair and I'm growing a beard, yet I am neither a hippie nor a hipster.

(also, what swords do you have? It's rare I find anyone who knows the difference between functional and non-functional)

I'm Scottish, I have a kilt and love haggis. As my American friends on XBL love teasing me about.

Oh and I have an inbuilt dislike for the English. When someone tells me they're English, it makes no difference to me and I have tons of English friends and, but that doesn't stop me mocking them for it (as a joke, and they quite happily return the favour!).

Oh, and I love bagpipe music.
Hey man, haggis is awesome. I'm american and I know that.

Well considering my family has irish, italian and scottish lines, i'm actually stupidly steriotypical.

I can cook, I can fight, I actually enjoy fighting, I like drinking, I like haggis, I once owned a kilt (not for very long though) and I have spaghetti and Pizza on a regular basis.

Although Guinness sucks, sorry ireland.

Based on that description, the only think I would think of asking is where is your Texas tattoo?

Anecdote:If you think I'm kidding, everyone in the military I have ever met from Texas has a tattoo of the state somewhere on their person.

I live in the only state that has it's own Fark tag.(When it's raining, it's liquid sunshine)
I'm a gamer, so my body is much more out of shape than it should be.

I'm in the military, but I'm not a bible thumper, nor do I have any tattoos or an alcohol problem. I'll probably have a couple of beers next week when I'm on leave, but for the most part I don't really drink.

The only way I 'observe' stereotypes of my kind is that I defy them:

I'm Asian, so (and mind you, I'm picking on Asians that are fresh from Asia - there are plenty of asians that have been socialised in westernised countries that don't do what I'm about to list :p):

1. I don't litter
2. I don't spit in public (If I had to, I'd do it where no one can see)
3. I don't stop at the top or bottom of escalators or block paths or doors with all my friends so no one can get past
4. I try my best not to be a mindless pedestrian
5. I mix well with all kinds of people rather than just my own kind
6. I'm terrible at math.
7. I'm actually a good driver- and my reverse parking skills are second to none :p.
8. I don't talk on my phone REALLY REALLY LOUD IN PUBLIC. Especially in places like a library or a courthouse.
9. I am not terrified of dogs.
10. I'd like to believe I observe some decent sense of fashion :p (but I suppose everyone feels that way, at least I don't try to dress like some kind of technicolored street-basketball player from the future).

Some of these traits I loathe. Some of these traits I just find distasteful or awkward.
